This is a great opportunity for families to get some new to you clothing and pass along some items that are no longer needed! Just in time for the coming school year 📝

Children’s Clothing Giveaway

Nobody wants to think of back to school just yet but please mark your calendars for our annual children’s clothing giveaway which will be held the morning of August 22. As you sort through your children’s clothes, please set aside things that others could use, which we will gladly accept. We will take items for all ages - infant to teen. Donated items can be left in the church foyer beginning on Monday, August 17. Please ensure all items are clean and in good condition.

We also need volunteers to assist with setup on the Friday evening (August 21). Please let us know if you can help out in this way.

🥁 Drum roll, please… 🥁

We know everyone is eager to hear the FINAL fundraising total for Project Playground, and trust us, we’re just as excited to share it! 💛

We’re putting the finishing touches on our numbers and will be announcing the grand total toward the end of next week.

But while we wait, we have something pretty exciting to share…

🚧 PLAYGROUND CONSTRUCTION IS SET TO BEGIN AUGUST 17! 🚧

And if you’ve been wondering what all of your incredible support is helping bring to life, take a look at the project renderings! 👇🛝✨

It’s pretty amazing to think that very soon, these pictures will become a reality.
And now that we have surpassed our goal, we get to add some nice finishing touches to really make this playground and the existing play spaces at our school even more amazing.

After all the fundraising, donations, events, volunteering, sharing, cheering us on, and incredible community support, the countdown is officially ON!

A very special thank you to Frankie & Lorraine Hennessey for their generous $500 donation to Project Playground!

For Frankie & Lorraine, this project has a special connection. With young grandchildren attending our school, they’ll have the joy of seeing them directly benefit from the new playground: playing, laughing, making friends, and creating childhood memories right here at SRS ❤️

Their generosity will also reach far beyond their own family, helping create a wonderful outdoor space for all of our students to enjoy now and for years to come.

Frankie & Lorraine, thank you for investing in a place where your grandchildren (and so many other children in our community) can make memories together. We are truly grateful for your support of Project Playground! 🌳✨

We are honoured to recognize the Souris Regional High School Class of 2004, who generously donated $1,000 to Project Playground in memory of their classmate and friend, Jennifer Grant.

There is something so meaningful about a graduating class choosing to remember one of their own in this way. More than two decades after crossing the stage together, Jennifer's classmates made sure her name remains part of the school community they all once shared.

On behalf of everyone involved in Project Playground, thank you to the Class of 2004 for your generosity and thoughtfulness. We are grateful to be able to play a part in honouring Jennifer's legacy.

Your gift is a reflection of the compassion, friendship, and sense of community that continues to define SRHS/SRS alumni. Thank you for giving back to the school that brought you together and for helping move this project forward in such a meaningful way. We know this act of kindness will be remembered by many.

A heartfelt thank you to Townspud for their generous donation to Project Playground. While many know the Townshends as owners of this longstanding local farm, they're also a family with deep roots at Souris Regional School.

Pictured are some of the youngest members of the operation, all current or future Spartans. It's a wonderful reminder that the pride in our school is often passed from one generation to the next, with families continuing to invest in the community that has meant so much to them.

Townspud has been a valued supporter of SRS for the past few years, whether it's donating potatoes for Staff Appreciation Week, bringing equipment to our Meet a Machine event, or quietly stepping up whenever help is needed.

To the entire crew, thank you for believing in this project and for the countless ways you've supported Souris Regional School over the years. Your commitment to this community is something we're incredibly grateful for, and we're proud to recognize you as part of the Project Playground story.

The next generation of Spartans is already making a difference.

A big thank you to Nathaniel Dingwell for his generous $250 donation to Project Playground!

He may not be a Spartan just yet, but we're excited for the day he joins the halls of Souris Regional School.

Project Playground has brought together people of all ages, and donations like this are a wonderful reminder that community spirit can start early. We hope Nate feels proud knowing he played a part in helping make this project a reality.

Thank you buddy, for your kindness and generosity. We can't wait to welcome you as a future Spartan!

The spirit of being a Spartan doesn't end at graduation.

We're incredibly grateful to the Souris Regional School Class of 1996, who recently celebrated their high school reunion and chose to make a $1,600 donation to Project Playground. What a meaningful way to celebrate old friendships while investing in the next generation of Spartans.

Every donation tells a story, and this one is a reminder that the connections built at SRS continue long after graduation. The pride our alumni have in their school and community is something truly special, and it's a big part of what has made Project Playground such a success.

To the Class of 1996, thank you for your generosity, your school spirit, and for helping create a place where future Spartans will laugh, play, and make memories of their own. We are so grateful to have you as part of this journey.

The amazing littles at Down to Earth Childcare rolled up their sleeves and got to work, making fresh, hand squeezed lemonade and mini banana chocolate chip muffins to raise money for new magnetic blocks... one of their very favourite toys!

Not only did they reach their own goal, but they also chose to share part of their fundraising with Project Playground! 🛝❤️

We were so touched by this incredibly thoughtful gesture. Many of these children will one day walk the halls of Souris Regional School, and knowing they wanted to help build a playground they'll get to enjoy in the future makes this gift even more meaningful.

To all of the wonderful children, educators, and families at Down to Earth Childcare, thank you for showing that generosity has no age. Your kindness reminds us that even the smallest hands can make a big difference, and we're so grateful to have you as part of this journey.

Thank you for helping build a place where today's little learners will become tomorrow's Spartans.

We are thrilled to share that the Souris Regional School Home & School Association has been awarded a $30,000 grant from the Province of Prince Edward Island to create a brand new accessible Outdoor Learning Space at Souris Regional School!

Located behind the school, this space will serve as an outdoor classroom where students can learn, explore, create, and connect with nature. Designed to be fully accessible, it will provide a flexible learning environment that can be used by students of all ages for years to come.

This addition is especially meaningful as it gives our school another option on those warm days when classrooms become uncomfortably hot. Having a comfortable outdoor learning space will allow teachers to take learning beyond the four walls of the classroom while giving students a refreshing change of scenery.

We are also excited for this space to become a gathering place for our community. With the new playground just steps away, families and friends will have a welcoming place to sit, visit, and connect while children play, making it another wonderful addition to our school grounds.

A heartfelt thank you goes to Robin Croucher, MLA for Souris–Elmira and Minister of Education, for his continued support of projects that benefit the students and families of our community. Robin has been a tremendous advocate for Souris Regional School, and we are incredibly grateful for his role in helping make this project possible.

One of the key moments in our fundraising journey came through the Province of Prince Edward Island's Playground Equipment Fund, which awarded $25,000 toward Phase 1, and we are so excited to announce an additional $25,000 toward Phase 2 of Project Playground.

This investment has been instrumental in helping bring this project to life, and we're incredibly grateful for the Province's commitment to creating safe, accessible places for children to learn, play, and grow.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Robin Croucher , MLA for Souris–Elmira and Minister of Education, for his support of this project. Robin recognized the impact Project Playground will have on our students and community and worked to help secure the second round of funding through the Playground Equipment Fund. His support played an important role in helping us reach this milestone, and we are truly grateful.

🎉 We are so thrilled to announce that WE HAVE OFFICIALLY SURPASSED OUR $150,000 GOAL! 🎉

The response from our community has been nothing short of extraordinary.

While today marks the official end of our fundraising campaign, we've been asked one question over and over: "Can we still donate?" The answer is a resounding YES!

We are more than happy to continue accepting donations, and we still have a few generous supporters to recognize over the coming days.

Every additional dollar will go directly toward enhancing Project Playground. Features such as additional play equipment, benches, waste receptacles, signage, landscaping, and other finishing touches all come with significant costs. Every contribution helps us create an even better space for our students, families, and the wider community.

From the very beginning, this project has been about what we can accomplish together, and your generosity has exceeded every expectation. Thank you for believing in this vision and helping us build something that will be enjoyed for generations to come. ❤️
