Hello Vancouver Island Scouters and Group Committee Members!



We are thriller to be hosting a “Plan-Do-Review Retreat” training weekend for registered Scouter on Vancouver Island. Whether you are new to Scouting or a seasoned pro, you’ll be in for a fun and informative weekend with several training options to choose from. We will have:

Archery Range Safety Officer certifications (required to take your youth to the Archery Range)
Sessions on
Organizing a camp
Group Committee
Holding a formal campfire
Covering several WBII Scouter Development Cards
Practising basic first aid skills with youth
And more!


And of course you’ll meet new Scouters, share ideas, and have a great camping weekend.



When: Friday November 20th at 7:00PM through Sunday November 22nd at Noon

Where: Camp Barnard - Mang and Rama Cabins / Mor Kitchen

The Plan: A variety of Scouting Skills with a focus on how you would prepare to support youth in running a meeting

Limited # of spots: Please email [email protected] to secure one.

Cost: $60 per attendee. This includes the camp fee, all training, and meals. Payment details will be sent to those that secure a spot.

Everyone is welcome to attend! We encourage each local Scouting group to send at least one representative, as each group’s representative serves as a voting member and helps shape the future of Camp Barnard.

At the AGM, you’ll have an opportunity to:

Help elect new Camp Committee members and support the nomination process.

Learn about completed projects, current initiatives, and exciting plans for the future.

Meet the dedicated volunteers who give their time and energy to maintaining and improving Camp Barnard.

Discover how the committee is working to ensure Camp Barnard remains a sustainable, welcoming, and valuable resource for Scouts and future generations.

Camp Barnard is an important part of our Scouting community, and its future depends on the involvement and support of groups like yours. Your participation helps ensure that we continue to provide meaningful outdoor experiences and lasting memories for youth for years to come.

A Heartfelt Thank You from Camp Barnard!

As we reflect on this season, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Camp Barnard Committee and our incredible volunteer network for all of their hard work, dedication, and commitment to making Camp Barnard such a special place. From upgrades and renovations to fundraising efforts and the ongoing upkeep and conservation of the camp, your time, energy, and passion help keep our camp thriving for generations to come. We are so grateful for everything you do!

We would also like to thank our wonderful community, supporters, and donors for standing behind us throughout our fundraising efforts. Your generosity, encouragement, and continued support mean so much to us and make a real difference in the future of Camp Barnard.

🍎❤️ THANK YOU, VICTORIA! ❤️🍎

What an incredible weekend.

From all of us in Greater Victoria Scouting, thank you from the bottom of our hearts to our amazing community for coming out, stopping to say hello, and making a donation during Apple Day. Every apple purchased and every donation made is a reminder of just how generous and supportive our community can be.

A very special thank you to South Island FarmHub for providing the most delicious, beautiful apples for our community fundraiser. Your support helped make this weekend possible, and we are so grateful for your partnership. 🍎🌱

This fundraiser is especially meaningful because 50% of the profits will support Camp Barnard, helping care for and strengthen a place where generations of young people have learned, explored, challenged themselves and created lifelong memories. The other 50% goes directly back to the 20 Scouting groups who participated, helping our youth fund camps, adventures, activities and experiences throughout the year.

And to our 20 incredible Scouting groups, volunteers, youth and families who gave their time and energy this weekend — THANK YOU. ❤️ You stood outside in the sunshine, greeted your neighbours, carried boxes of apples, shared smiles and represented Scouting with such enthusiasm. Your dedication is what makes these community fundraisers so special.

Most of all, this weekend reminded us that Scouting is about community. It is about young people learning to give back, volunteers showing up for one another, and neighbours supporting the experiences that help children and youth grow into confident, capable and caring people.

Every apple had a purpose.
Every donation made a difference.
Every smile mattered.

🍎 APPLE DAY IS COMING TO GREATER VICTORIA! 🍎

On October 3 & 4, keep your eyes open throughout the Greater Victoria community — you’ll see Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Venturers and Rovers out and about with bags of delicious apples and big smiles! 🍏💚

Our youth will be collecting donations in exchange for apples, helping their local Scouting groups and Camp Barnard raise funds for the adventures, camps, equipment, programs and experiences that make Scouting so special.

♻️ Camp Barnard Bottle Drive ♻️

Bring your bottles to 505 Marigold Road between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m Saturday Sept 12th. All proceeds will help cover camp costs!

Did you know the Camp Barnard working team is refurbishing Totem Lodge and McPherson? This major project will include new buildings, sleeping areas, roofs, and a whole new look. Every contribution helps us keep these spaces safe and welcoming for future generations of campers.

🥞🌲 Join Us for the 17th Annual Camp Barnard Breakfast Fundraiser! 🌲🥞

Tickets are still available for our annual fundraising breakfast on May 21st — and we would love to see you there as we come together to support the future of Camp Barnard and the incredible experiences it provides for youth and families.

We are honoured to welcome Sam Sullivan as our keynote speaker. Sam Sullivan is a former Vancouver MLA and was inducted into the Order of Canada, the nation’s highest civilian honour for community achievement, in recognition of his work improving the lives of people with significant disabilities. Through the Sam Sullivan Disability Foundation, over $20 million has been raised to support more than 10,000 individuals with disabilities.

Come enjoy a great breakfast, connect with the community, hear an inspiring presentation from Sam Sullivan, and help support Camp Barnard’s ongoing fundraising efforts and outdoor programs.
