On Sunday June 22 at 11 am the Lions will be splitting firewood for a wood raffle to support the Sointula Museum.
This will happen just across the road from the Community Garden.

Any townsfolk that are looking for some exercise and would like to support this initiative through a bit of sweat equity is welcome to join in!!!!

This will just be split and thrown in a pile for now, no chainsaws or trucks required.

Sointula Lions Harbour Authority
Harbour Master - Manager

This is a full time position with seasonal fluctuation of hours. Renumeration salary is presently $45K and may be negotiated by the successful candidate. Salary and staff wages are reviewed annually.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to;
Managing harbour staff; coordination with the Lions Club Harbour Committee, maintaining financial records, banking and invoicing along with moorage agreements.
Overseeing day to day operations of the harbour, wash-house and related facilities.
Overseeing maintenance of the facility and equipment, including emergency response 24/7.
Ensure Harbour is operated in an environmentally responsible manner.
Coordinating with Small Craft Harbours Canada.
Liaise with Harbour Authority Association of BC, and other west coast Small Craft Harbour management teams.
Develop and coordinate ongoing training opportunities for harbour staff with a focus on emergency response.
Attend meetings and conferences as necessary.

Prerequisites
A resident of Malcolm Island
General understanding of the fishing industry requirements
General understanding of marine enviroment
Strong interpersonal skills
Strong organization skills
Understanding of book keeping requirements
Understanding of Simply Accounting (Sage)
Good computer skills

The Harbour Committee (Sointula Lions Harbour Authority) is accepting applications for this position.
Closing date June 15, 2025.

Club members will be in front of the Co-Op this Saturday from 10-2, helping find a resolution for those people who are having challenges like the ones above. (They also make fantastic stocking stuffers or gifts)

it is that time of year again where the MILC will be participating in the Gazette Christmas Hamper program.
we will be putting together hampers of groceries, produce, eggs, cheese and bread for home delivery on December 14th.
Non perishable goods will be collected at the Sointula Co-op, AJ Elliot School and the Sointula Seniors.
Donations to assist with purchases can also be made to the Malcolm Island Lions Club.

the cut off date for online hamper applications is November 29th.
