Our community, our village, our people, mourns the loss of Janet Walford. Our heartfelt gratitude, is bestowed upon her family (David, Shola and Simon), and her many friends she captured and held close as ‘family’ (the list is too great to name).
Janet was a true pillar of our community. She not only encouraged but embraced artistic journeys. While she was an integral being at Mountain Eagle Books, she genuinely encouraged and promoted all artistic endeavors. Given the chance to promote an event, a local artist – she was paramount in advocating and, advertising their moment – she truly believed in them.
While Janet cared about letting people shine, she embraced what brought them to her, to hear their story – that’s the epitome of art, embrace people’s story, let them tell it – share it. That brought happiness to her, to share talent, to share stories, memories.
Janet loved music, it made her heart, soul – soar. It made her smile.
Prior to her passing, she attended the Smithers Midsummer Music Festival. There she celebrated not only the music being played, but she also celebrated all the people that joined her in appreciation of the chance to ‘feel’, to kick up her heels, dance, sing – to encourage all of us to participate in the ‘dance of life’.
Janet, the legacy you have left us is a gift. A gift that we will all continue to build on, cherishing your energy, your vibrance – your family that you have cultivated.
With the utmost respect, we are privileged to share our gratitude of your life, what you offered, what you gave. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Bulkley Valley Community Arts Council
