Congrats once again! And thank you for the incredible work you're doing to build community while keeping things out of the landfill. We're bringing some stuff in this weekend for sure. Keep it up! 🛠️

A big thank you to Wetzin'kwa Community Forest for providing the Bulkley Valley Tool Library with more than $900 to host a series of Repair Cafés and Tool Tinkering sessions this year!

This funding will help make it easier for people to learn repair skills and fix broken or well-loved items, giving them a second life instead of sending them to the landfill. Repair Cafés are a great way to foster connection and support a culture of reuse. It will also fund our tool tinkering sessions where volunteers fix tools that have been donated and need some love before they're entered into our inventory.

We’re excited to kick off the series with the first Repair Café at Reuse-a-palooza on Saturday, August 29, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.! See you there!

Congratulations to the Valley Youth Fiddlers! WCFC is proud to support your work keeping local youth engaged in music and the arts, please keep up the great work. Thank you for the lovely music you played for us! 🤩

We would like to thank the Wetzin'kwa Community Forest Corporation for their support of the Valley Youth Fiddlers. It makes an enormous difference to our program. This year they granted almost 300k to organizations in Witset, Smithers, and Telkwa. Thanks to the board for all your hard work and continued important role you play in the community.

Congratulations to the Bulkley Valley Search and Rescue team! This truck means faster, safer response when our community needs you most. We are happy to support the great work you do! 🌲

- A Major Milestone for Bulkley Valley Search and Rescue! -

After several years of fundraising, grant applications, and incredible community support, we’re excited to share that Bulkley Valley Search and Rescue has officially replaced our rescue response truck!

Our previous response truck was destroyed by fire while our team was out on a callout a few years ago. Since then, replacing this critical piece of equipment has been a major priority for our organization.

This new truck plays a vital role in our response capability—helping us get SAR members and essential rescue equipment into the field safely and efficiently when the call comes in.

Making this replacement a reality would not have been possible without the generous support of our community and funding partners. We would especially like to recognize:

You're most welcome! We are proud to support Smithers Snowmobile Association ❄️Congratulations on the completion of such a meaningful project and thank you for what you do for our community!

A huge thank you to Wetzin'kwa Community Forest Corporation for their continued support of the Smithers Snowmobile Association, with $10,000 towards the Dome Bridge Project!

Thanks to several generous contributions from WCFC, the Smithers Snowmobile Association has purchased two modern snowcats, and built a new cabin on the Microwave.

We are so fortunate to have this organization in the Bulkley Valley providing both employment opportunities for the forestry sector and funds for local groups/projects. Thank you to the staff and board of directors of WCFC for all your hard work!!

These grants support everything from youth programs to arts, culture, emergency services and more — all strengthening the Smithers, Telkwa and Witset communities.

The Town of Smithers is seeking applications to fill its representative position on the Wetzin’kwa Community Forest Corporation (WCFC) Board of Directors.

We're looking for an individual with a strong understanding of the community, business experience, forestry knowledge, and a collaborative approach to governance.

To be eligible, applicants must:
• Reside in the Bulkley Valley
• Have lived in the Bulkley Valley for at least 12 consecutive months
• Submit a Statement of Intent outlining their relevant experience and expertise, any potential conflicts of interest, and their willingness to serve a term of up to three years

The WCFC Board is comprised of:
• 1 Town of Smithers representative
• 1 Village of Telkwa representative
• 1 Office of the Wet’suwet’en representative
• 4 Directors-at-Large
