“Special Olympics will change your life, believe me, I know.”

When Special Olympics BC – Penticton athlete Angela Klein first joined Special Olympics, she planned to try it for just one year. Twenty-six years later, she continues to be a successful athlete building confidence, finding friendship, and achieving goals on and off the fields of play. 🙌

Angela is one of many inspiring people celebrated in Special Olympics BC’s 2025-26 Impact Report. The report honours what becomes possible when a community believes in the abilities of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. ❤️

To every athlete, volunteer, sponsor, donor, family member, and champion of inclusion who made these achievements possible: Thank you. Together, we are creating more opportunities, stronger communities, and a more inclusive B.C. 💪

🧠 Did you know? Most people who experience a concussion do not lose consciousness. That's why it's important to recognize the signs and symptoms, even when an injury doesn't seem serious.

Every athlete deserves the opportunity to play, compete, and thrive safely. 🙌

This Concussion Awareness Week, we're encouraging athletes, coaches, volunteers, families, and supporters across Special Olympics BC to learn how to recognize and respond to a concussion. 🤝

A concussion is a brain injury, and recognizing the symptoms early can make a lasting difference in an athlete's health, recovery, and return to sport. ❤️

Creating a safe sport environment is a shared responsibility, and what you learn today could make a difference for a teammate tomorrow.

🧠 Learn the signs.
💙 Support recovery.
🏅 Keep sport safe.
