Springer Creek Restoration And Preservation Alliance

A creek for everyone:

Springer Creek, and its surrounding watershed, represent a remarkable resource for the community. It is a stream of stunning beauty whose 100-year resource extraction history has left a legacy of good access roads. So whether your interest is outdoor recreation in the form of hiking or off-road riding, local history repre

sented by it’s numerous abandoned mine and forestry sites, or concern for ecological values, the past, present and future of this creek will be important to you. The Springer Creek Restoration and Preservation Alliance (SCRAPA) is a means by which your values and hopes can be expressed and incorporated into future land-use decisions. SCRAPA’s Mission:

To restore and preserve the ecology of the entire Springer Creek watershed from alpine sources to its outflow into Slocan Lake, while respecting and preserving the history of the mining and logging activity which so altered it from its original state. Activities of the Alliance:

To promote the return of the creek’s outflow into Slocan Lake to its pre-contact state as a productive salmon stream. To promote the ecological restoration and cultural preservation of abandoned mine and mill sites. To encourage the expression of all economic, cultural and ecological values in future decision-making for land-use within the watershed. Since the outflow area lies within the boundaries of the Village of Slocan, to work closely with the municipal government, and other organizations to promote the mission of the Alliance. email: [email protected]
