Lots coming up for our Restorative Justice Program and we'll get to all of that as we move more deeply into 2026, but in the meantime wanted to share this beautiful work.
Presenting the miƛm ̓ sʕ̓aʕ̓ác̓s iʔ styíɬc̓aʔ (Caribou Colouring Book). The Caribou Colouring Book project's aim, as with all our projects surrounding Caribou, is to re-establish our People's deep ancestral connection with Caribou and to cultivate that sense of connection in settlers in our təmxʷúlaʔxʷ as well. Further, this Sinixt Colouring Book aims to assist in the revitalization of the endangered sn̓ səlxčin̓ dialect of the Interior Salish language. With this we uphold our responsibility & respect for styíɬc̓aʔ who is also endangered & disappearing from Sinixt təmxwúlaʔxw and demonstrate our laws of whuplak̓n.
Taress Lum Alexis, Sinixt Matriarch, dropped her robe and joined her ancestors on January 19, 2026. Taress was a language revitalization warrior and an author. She co-
authored “Not Extinct: Keeping the Sinixt Way” and “miƛ ̓m ̓ sʕ ̓áʕ ̓ác ̓s iʔ styíɬc̓aʔ (the Caribou Colouring Book). Ru Rose from the Slocan Valley has illustrated a Caribou's relationship with her newborn calf in a loving and beautiful way, which makes colouring a meditation as well as fun.

This project was created as part of the Autonomous Sinixt's participation in CIER's (Centre for Indigenous Environmental Resources) Species at Risk Act (SARA) endangered species project on Southern Mountain Caribou.
