Legacy Childcare in Slave Lake, Alberta is looking for full-time Early Childhood Educators. Applicants with Level 1-3 Certification are preferred but we are willing to train the right person. Shifts will be 8 hours, Monday-Friday, between the hours of 630 am and 615 pm, a successful candidate would be able to work any shift within these hours.
As we offer a learning through play-based program, in order to facilitate learning, candidates must be willing to participate in children’s play. This would consist of sitting on the floor actively participating in play, going outside daily, planning engaging play experiences that challenge children's creativity and imagination, being receptive to children's needs and helping them reach developmental milestones.
Candidates must be willing to work with any children ages 0-12 years, at all levels of development. Willingness to work with children who display challenging behaviors or various levels of ability is required. Individuals must be able to make appropriate accommodations to support learning and development for all children. All children are welcome at Legacy Childcare; though all children are different, they are all supported and treated with the same respect and compassion.
Building positive relationships and having open communication with children, families and team members is an important part of working in child care. Candidates must have excellent communication skills, be warm, welcoming and approachable. Problem solving skills and being open to new ideas and perspectives is an asset.
We are looking for individuals with a positive outlook, who can easily take direction, are flexible and work well as part of a team. A successful candidate would be patient, kind and have a passion for working with children, be interested in child development and be willing to continuously learn new things to improve their practice with children.
Professional Development and continued education are essential when working with children, candidates must be willing to take part in various training opportunities relevant to the position. Certified Early Childhood Educators will qualify for professional development funding.
