We offer a range of programs and services to support the Métis community, including education and training programs, employment services, housing, and financial assistance, and cultural events and activities. The Métis Nation of Alberta Region 5 covers a vast area of the province,

including Slave Lake, High Prairie, Wabasca-Desmarais, East Prairie Metis Settlement, Grouard, Peavine Metis Settlement, Gift Lake Metis Settlement, Kinuso, and Joussard.

These easy-to-prepare meal kits include simple recipes and pre-portioned ingredients. They are delivered right to your home mid-September. Heading back to school is a stressful time for everyone in the family, but cooking together doesn’t have to be.

Families who have already received a meal-kit box from Goodfood can re-apply! Families who have not already received a box will be given priority to ensure no eligible family is left without!

The Otipemisiwak Métis Government’s Children and Family Services is excited to share the Métis Culture Card Collection!

This bundle includes:

Series 4: Métis Games, Gatherings, and Celebrations - invite families to explore how Métis people come together to play, connect, and celebrate through games, jigging, bannock‑making, card games, and seasonal feasts.

Series 5: Métis on the Move- celebrate Métis history as travellers, guides, and helpers, learning about the York Boat, Red River Cart, and the teamwork and pride that still live in Métis communities today.

Designed for early learners, these engaging cards help families discover and celebrate Métis culture, history, and traditions together.

Eligibility:
- Reside in Alberta
- Be the legal guarding of a child aged 0-11
- Either the parent/guardian or child must be a registered Otipemisiwak Métis Government Citizen

“The 𝗛𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗛𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗿 is about bringing our government and our culture closer to our Citizens,” said Otipemisiwak Métis Government President, Andrea Sandmaier.

The Homeland Hopper is a fully customized mobile outreach unit developed over more than three years to expand access to culturally grounded programming and strengthen connections among Métis Citizens, communities, and the land.

Have you recently lost an immediate family member and are struggling with funeral expenses? The 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗱 is here to help eligible Citizens of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government / Métis Nation of Alberta during difficult times.

𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆?
• You, or the deceased, must be a Citizen of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government/Métis Nation of Alberta.
• You must be an immediate family member of the deceased (spouse, parent, grandparent, child, grandchild, or sibling), or identified as next of kin.
• You are responsible for funeral costs and facing financial hardship.

𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗗𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘀:
• Applications must be submitted within 4 months of the passing.
• Payment goes directly to the applicant (not to the estate or funeral home).
• Only one application per deceased family member will be approved.
• Processing takes approximately six weeks after all documents are received.
