Our Story
Seeing a need and filling that need.
When asked, “What is the greatest need you see for the Town of Slave Lake?” people of the community have addressed the desire for a place for youth to connect and feel safe. After a few phone calls, some creativity, and a unified vision, Nexus Youth Centre was created. Based out of the Community Christian Center, Nexus Youth Centre (NYC) is free to youth ages 10-17 in the Slave Lake and surrounding area and exists to foster a positive and encouraging environment where youth can connect, create, and belong. With funding from Family and Community Support Services, the Town of Slave Lake, and from generous donations from community members, NYC will “Kick Off” September 2019.
