Friends of Cedar Bay's Second Annual Tree Hugging Competition brought competitors from Switzerland, Southern Ontario and British Columbia. Held in front of the Tom Belmore Lodge at Cedar Bay on August 7, adults and children participated in three events - most trees hugged in a minute, longest hug with feet off the ground and most creative hug.

Judge was Arborist, Logan Yule; photographer, Sharon Yule; birchbark medal creator, Aileen Urquhart and contest co- ordinators, George Hogarth, Isabella Neegan and Florence Woolner.

Horse Selfie Contest! We have too many selfies to choose from! Help us vote. “Like” the selfies that are your favourite and the picture with the most reactions will win. Top 3 winners will be decided Monday August 10th at 6pm! Share with all of your friends so they can like them too.

Toddler Pony Rides were a success! Thank you to everyone who came out to pet, ride, or take pictures with Jasper, Cookie and Spur. It was our first time separating age groups and we were pleased to offer our littlest riders with a shorter line to wait in, a calmer environment and more time to get to know the horses before hopping on.

That was our last of 5 Blueberry events at Cedar Bay Stables! Don’t forget to submit your horse selfies. Tomorrow (Friday) they will be going on our page for you to vote on!

We hope to offer this kind of programming all year long so stay tuned on this page for updates.

Another great turnout for our “Learn to Groom a Horse” event. Caballo, Jasper, Hazel and Spur have never been so clean! Maybe we will have to have you out more often to groom the horses!

Pony Rides!

Pony Rides are free for the Blueberry Festival as a thank you to the community for your incredible support during Smile Cookie week.

When we say pony rides, we really mean horse ride so if you are an adult that has never been on a horse, this is your chance!

If you have a well fitting bike helmet, please bring it. Riding helmets will be available to use if need 🙂

We found the unicorn! Thank you for your help! We found her relaxing and brought her home!

** for parents out there- the event was cut short. The unicorn costume stopped working. Sorry for the inconvenience.
