Young Theatre Players YTP is a community run youth theatre company. For 40 years YTP has taken pride in offering Norfolk Co

We are a non-profit organization that has been around for 38 years. We are geared towards the promotion of Theatre Arts to the youth of Norfolk County. We offer classes in voice, dance, acting and technical theatre. Our company has 3 class levels to allow for the ultimate learning environment.

The Little Mermaid Jr has been brought to life by the artistic talents of these incredible creators! We can’t thank them enough for all of the hours they have put in to make the gorgeous costumes and set pieces that bring the magic!

Rachael has been a part of our YTP family for 4 years. She choreographed James and the Giant Peach, Mean Girls, Beetlejuice and SpongeBob the musical! She also provided mentorship for our senior student choreography teams for our young company shows. Rachael brings so much to our team and is super creative. You will have a chance to see that creativity in this show through the gorgeous and clever costumes she has made! She has spent countless hours sewing by machine and by hand! She has also spent time mentoring, creating lists and schedules and generally helping things run smoothly!

Tammie has been on the board and creating behind the scenes with YTP for decades! Not only is she incredibly creative, she is also very skilled with power tools. Tammie can turn a cardboard box into a royal ship or spray foam a giant seashell to hide a little mermaid. She also has an incredible gift for turning trash into treasure which really helps us keep our costs down and gives us some of the most remarkable original sets around!

Nathan is our senior student in charge of set design. This is his 4th season with YTP and you may have seen him in James and the Giant Peach, Mean Girls, as Delia in Beetlejuice or Sandy Cheeks the squirrel in SpongeBob the musical. Nathan is a very talented artist in every sense of the word! Not only an excellent actor and singer, he is also very gifted as a visual artist! He has done an awesome job as set designer for this show and has helped to bring our director’s vision to life! PS - don’t forget to admire his handiwork on Ariel’s grotto when you come see our show!

These three seniors have brought their best to our upcoming production of Little Mermaid Jr and we are grateful and proud of their commitment to YTP!

This is Eliana’s 4th year with YTP! You may remember her from James and the Giant Peach, Mrs Potts in Beauty and the Beast, The Wicked Witch in Enchanted Bookshop or part of our fabulous ensemble in SpongeBob the Musical! This is Eliana’s first year in our senior company but, she is wise beyond her years. Her dedication and commitment, stepping into the role as stage manager for the first time, are incredible!

Katie is a YTP veteran of almost 10 years! We have had the great pleasure of watching her grow into an incredible actress and singer! Most recently, Katie nailed the role of SpongeBob in our senior company production of SpongeBob the Musical! Katie is always willing to help out wherever she is needed. She fully understands how much work goes into putting on a production and we are so grateful for her tireless dedication!

Bela also made the move with us from our Pond St. home and is in her 7th season with YTP! She has grown into an excellent actress and singer before our eyes! Most recently, she nailed the part of Karen in SpongeBob the Musical! Bela is incredibly creative and has a love for bringing performances alive with brilliant costumes and was happy to be named head of costumes for Little Mermaid. She is always willing to help out wherever she is needed and you can even catch her performing in this show to fill in for students who need to miss a production. We are so grateful for her commitment to our company!

YTP is proud to introduce our Director and Musical Director for The Little Mermaid Jr, Lilly Deming⭐️

This is Lilly’s 3rd season with our YTP family. You may have seen her on stage in Mean Girls, as the incredible Miss Argentina in Beetlejuice or everyone’s favourite Squidward in SpongeBob the musical!

Lilly has taken on her role as director with incredible passion and dedication. She is always one step ahead and keeps everyone focused on making this our best young company production to date. The cast absolutely love and respect her and have grown as actors under her direction. We couldn’t be more proud of Lilly’s commitment and creativity and hope you will come support her in audience👏🏼🎬

Last, but definitely not least, Let’s meet our lead characters: The Little Mermaid herself (aka Ariel), The evil sea witch Ursula and the beloved Prince Eric!

This is Kennedy’s 3rd year with YTP. You may have seen her in the ensemble in Beauty and the Beast or as Dr. Doolittle in The Enchanted Bookshop. Kennedy has continued to push herself on stage and nailed her Little Mermaid audition. We are proud of her hard work and dedication to this role and know she will embrace her inner superstar when the curtain rises for Opening Night!

Ahnita is also on their 3rd season with our YTP crew. You may have seen them in the ensemble in Beauty & the Beast or as the precocious Bumblerina the Brave in The Enchanted Bookshop. Ahni has put in incredible work to bring the role of Ursula to life for this production. Channelling all of their evil energy, we know Ahni will have audiences captivated!

Ewan is also on his 3rd season with Young Theatre Players. He had audiences laughing as Lefou in Beauty and the Beast and Tom Sawyer in The Enchanted Bookshop! Ewan is a dedicated actor and an excellent singer. We are so excited for you all to meet him as the charming Prince Eric in The Little Mermaid!

The adventure starts Thursday, June 11th and closes Sunday, June 21st! Please join us for an evening or matinee performance! Our Young company students are ready to feel that spotlight and hear your applause🎭🎶⭐️♥️

Introducing some Under the Sea superstars! These three know that under the sea life is best but, they cannot seem to convince their dear Ariel!

This is Jennifer’s 2nd year with Young Theatre Players. You may remember her as the quirky, pickpocket Fagin in The Enchanted Bookshop! This triple threat is a force on stage and we know you are going to love her as Sebastian!

This is Maddy’s first year on the YTP stage. She has the poise and commanding energy needed to be the King of the Sea! She is excellent at projecting and her characterization of King Triton is very believable!

Georgia is also new to Young Theatre Players but her infectious energy makes her a natural. She has done an excellent job taking on the role of Ariel’s bestie, Flounder, and is ready to win your heart in this production!

Next up, meet those sneaky conniving eels, Flotsam and Jetsom! These two are devoted to their beloved Ursula and will stop at nothing to prove their loyalty!

Yes! You ARE seeing double! Isla and Abby are identical twins and we still need them to wear name tags. This is their first year with YTP and we are delighted to have them! Both girls have fantastic singing voices and have completely embraced their roles as evil villains! They bring this sneaky duo to life in a very real way. Don’t be scared kids, they’re just really great actresses!

Happy Friday, Folks! Let’s meet more of our Incredible Young Company Cast members for our upcoming production of The Little Mermaid Jr!

This is Maggie’s 3rd year with the YTP family! You may remember her as Maurice in Beauty and the Beast or the thieving Long John Silver in The Enchanted Bookshop! This time she plays Prince Eric’s right hand man, Grimsby, trying desperately to marry him to a proper princess. Maggie is really coming into her own on stage and we love watching her grow!

Annika is enjoying her 2nd year with YTP. Mature and wise beyond her years, she nailed her motherly role in Enchanted Bookshop and lets that side of her shine again as Ariel’s palace caregiver, Carlotta! We are excited to see what comes next for this talented young actress!

Here come the Lovely Mersisters! Bringing all kinds of sass and charm to our production🧜‍♀️
These young ladies have worked really hard on their impressive vocals and choreo and bring life to King Triton’s court🔱

This is Lexi’s 2nd year with YTP. Last season she played the loveable Pollyanna in The Enchanted Bookshop. She shines on stage as Aquata and brings the princess poise to a whole new level!

Zoey is on her 3rd year with YTP. You may remember her in Beauty and the Beast or as the wise Dorothy in Enchanted Bookshop. She brings Arista to life in this production and has excellent chemistry on stage with her fellow castmates!

Oh Look! It’s Frankie again (more on her as a gull) It may be her first year but this young lady learns quickly and takes direction well. We were thrilled she was willing to add Adella to her list of characters!

This is Raven’s 3rd year with YTP. She rocked the role of Madame de la grande bouche in Beauty and the Beast and the Queen of Hearts in The Enchanted Bookshop. She has a lot of fun on stage and brings the sass as Andrina!

Isla is also in her 3rd year as part of YTP! She had fun as a silly girl in Beauty and the Beast and was a fantastic Robin Hood in The Enchanted Bookshop. Isla already has our stage crew giggling with her characterization of Atina; she is leaving it all on the stage!

This is Karissa’s 2nd year on the YTP stage. Last season, she blew us away as the great Sherlock Holmes in The Enchanted Bookshop! We can’t wait for you to see her as Allana on The Little Mermaid set. She takes to the stage with such ease and her ability to project and master choreo shines!

Introducing The Gulls! These silly birds teach our little mermaid everything she needs to know about “human stuff” 🍴

This is Ilyana’s 2nd year with the YTP crew. You may remember her as the very mysterious Lady in Red in The Enchanted Bookshop. This show, she has completely embodied the part of Scuttle, Ariel’s friend who teaches her about dinglehoppers and other human stuff!

This is Olivia’s first year as a YTP student. She has mastered her choreo and singing to bring her role as a quirky seagull to life. Just try not to smile when you hear her “squwaaak”

Frankie is also a first year student. She shows great commitment and picks up on her choreo quickly. Her strong singing voice makes her an essential part of all of the important ensemble numbers!

Oh look! It’s Caly again! (Read more about her as a te****le) With all of her past theatre experience, she knows how to embrace many different roles and we are so proud of her commitment to YTP!
