Join us in powering down on Saturday, March 28. 🔌

Earth Hour is an opportunity to reflect on our shared responsibility to care for the planet we call home. We're reminded that even small actions can contribute to a healthier, more sustainable future.

I encourage families to turn off all non-essential lights for one hour to reduce energy and talk about how our everyday choices can support environmental stewardship.

Norfolk County and partners break ground on affordable housing project in Delhi:

Members of Norfolk County Council, County staff, Haldimand-Norfolk Housing Corporation (HNHC) board and staff, and representatives from local partner agencies, broke ground today at the future site of an affordable housing development in Delhi.

Located at 686 Gibraltar Street, the three storey, 25-unit building will include 15 one-bedroom units, eight two-bedroom units, and two three-bedroom accessible units. The accessible units are designed to provide supportive housing for six individuals in partnership with Norfolk Association for Community Living (NACL).

The project will provide 10 rent-geared-to-income (RGI) units and 15 affordable units, helping to expand access to safe and stable housing for residents in Norfolk County. The development supports the County’s ongoing efforts to improve housing stability and address homelessness in the community.

Norfolk Association for Community Living is a community based organization that provides housing and support to help residents live safely and independently in their community.

Funding for the development includes investments from the Haldimand Norfolk Housing Corporation (HNHC) and Norfolk County, reflecting a shared commitment to expanding affordable housing options in the community.

Construction is underway, with completion estimated at the end of 2027.

“I’m proud to see this important project moving forward in Delhi. These 25 new units will help people and families in our community find stability close to schools and services. This groundbreaking is a step forward for Norfolk County.” Michael J. Columbus, Ward 3 Councillor

“On behalf of Norfolk County Council, I extend my gratitude and congratulations to the Haldimand Norfolk Housing Corporation and Norfolk Association for Community Living for their successful affordable housing partnership. This development is a significant step toward fulfilling Council’s commitment to increasing access to safe, much-needed housing solutions for all Norfolk County residents.” Deputy Mayor Adam Veri

“This project reflects our commitment to responding to housing needs in our community. By optimizing the site design, we were able to increase the development from 16 to 25 homes, allowing us to support more residents with a mix of rent-geared-to-income and affordable housing. We’re also proud to partner with Norfolk Association for Community Living to provide accessible housing for adults in our community who require supportive living arrangements.” Matt Bowen, CEO, Haldimand-Norfolk Housing Corporation

"Access to safe, affordable housing is foundational to well being, and this development in Delhi represents more than new homes—it represents hope and stability for individuals and families who have been waiting for the security that housing brings. Across Norfolk County, we remain committed to strengthening our communities, and I’m grateful to our partners for their shared commitment to supporting residents in building healthier, more secure futures.” Angela McMillan, General Manager, Emergency and Social Services

“Safe, accessible housing is essential to building an inclusive community. Through this partnership, we are creating opportunities for people with developmental disabilities to live with greater independence while staying connected to their community. We’re proud to be part of a project that reflects a shared commitment to belonging, dignity, and choice for all residents of Norfolk County.” Stella Barker, Executive Director, Norfolk Association for Community Living (NACL)
