Welsh Pony & Cob Society of Canada

Welsh Pony & Cob Society of Canada The Welsh Pony & Cob Society is devoted to the preservation and advancement of the beautiful Welsh Pony and Cob.

In 1979 the Welsh group decided to form a society separate from the Canadian Pony Society; thus, the Welsh Pony & Cob Society of Canada was formed. The Welsh Pony & Cob Society, with just under four hundred members, represents the most popular pony breed in Canada. The head office is located in Newmarket, Ontario. It is responsible for the accuracy of the Canadian Stud Book, which contains details

of every Welsh Pony registered in Canada. A new volume is produced each year listing the names, birth dates, parents and breeders of each Welsh either born or imported into Canada. The records that make up the Stud Book and the Transfers of Ownership of Welsh Ponies and Cobs are kept by the Canadian Livestock Records Corporation in Ottawa, Canada. A lot of information may be found on their website www.clrc.ca They have a list of members of the Society, and information about all the Welsh registered in Canada that have had an entry made in their name since 1991, when the CLRC website was inaugurated. The WPCSC has members in every province of Canada, several US States and Great Britain. Once per year, members meet for the Annual General Meeting (AGM). Each year the AGM alternates from eastern to western Canada. This is preceded by a meeting of the Directors and the Committees. After the AGM, at which the next year’s Board of Directors is elected, the new Board meets to elect their officers and executive and set their course for the coming year.

~ IMPORTANT: Welsh in Canada Newsletter Update ~

The Welsh Pony & Cob Society of Canada Board of Directors has approved a new publication schedule for the Welsh in Canada newsletter.

Beginning with the current publication cycle, the newsletter will transition from three digital editions and one annual printed edition to two printed editions per year. The new schedule will consist of a post-AGM edition in the spring and a pre-AGM edition in the fall.

This change was made in response to member feedback expressing a strong preference for printed newsletters, while also creating additional space for important Society information and helping ensure the long-term sustainability of the publication.

The first printed edition under this new format is currently in production and is expected to be mailed to members within the next 1–2 months.

~ Content Deadline – June 12, 2026 ~

Members are encouraged to submit news, articles, photos, and ads for inclusion in the upcoming issue by June 12, 2026.

~ Advertising Update ~

For members who purchased 2026 advertising package deals, the original pricing for placement in all newsletters will be honoured for 2026. Under the new format, the digital advertisements will be replaced with an additional printed advertisement, providing added value and increased exposure in the publication format preferred by our membership.

If you would like to discuss a previously placed advertisement, update your existing ad, or place an advertisement in the upcoming newsletter, please contact [email protected].

Thank you for your continued support of Welsh in Canada. We look forward to bringing you two enhanced printed editions each year.
