Nature's Calling Environmental Education is very excited to announce 3 new members of the team!
Below is a little info on each of our new staff:
Kyle "Beetle" Cameron is a new Forest School Facilitator working with Laurel "Stingray" at the Brant Forest School.
Kyle is a biologist, outdoor educator, and lifelong nature enthusiast with over a decade of experience working in environmental education and holds a B.Sc. in Biology from Trent University. Kyle is passionate about helping youth discover the wonder of nature through hands-on exploration and curiosity-driven learning. He has worked with organizations including Ontario Parks, Birds Canada, and the Long Point Bird Observatory, where he led outdoor programs, youth workshops, and field studies focused on birds, biodiversity, and conservation. As a father of two young children, Kyle especially enjoys seeing the natural world through the eyes of young learners and believes that time spent outdoors builds confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong connection to nature. When he’s not at work, you’ll likely find him birding, or exploring the woods with his kids.
Mackenzie "Goose" Williams our new Forest School Facilitator ath the Norfolk Forest School, working with Laura "Lorax".
Mackenzie was born and raised in Norfolk County and spent most of her childhood on local trails, beaches, or simply just exploring her backyard. She graduated from Fanshawe's Educational Support Worker program in 2024 and has worked in various roles, including recreation, kids' theatre programs and as an educational assistant. She believes all children should have the opportunity to connect with nature in the way she was able to and is excited to help foster children's natural curiosity and imagination. Mackenzie puts her creativity to work volunteering at Simcoe Little Theatre and Young Theatre Players, directing and stage managing various youth and adult productions. In her free time, she enjoys gardening, crafting, cooking, reading, and spending time with her partner and pets.
Joanne "Sparrow" Coats joins us as part-time Outdoor Educator who will be assisting in delivery of our Lessons in a Backpack curriculum-based outdoor programming for local schools.
Joanne is a dedicated elementary educator with 30 years of teaching experience (K–5) with the Peel District School Board. Throughout her teaching career, she enthusiastically supported environmental science programming and led EcoSchools Canada initiatives, inspiring her students to care deeply about the world around them through hands-on, inquiry-based teaching practices. Now happily retired and back in her home community of Norfolk County, Joanne lives in Port Dover, where she continues to follow her love of the outdoors. Hiking local trails, tending her garden, travelling, and exploring artistic pursuits all keep her connected to nature and creativity. Joanne is looking forward to nurturing children’s curiosity, confidence, and lifelong appreciation for the natural world.
