Invasive mussels are not only ecologically devastating. They’re also costly.

Once established, invasive mussels can:
⚙️ Clog intake pipes, irrigation and water systems
⚙️ Disrupt boating, fishing and waterfront activities
⚙️ Create costly infrastructure issues, including cleaning, repairing and replacing equipment

💰 Projections show that managing invasive mussels in B.C. could cost more than $100 million per year.

Let’s keep this one off the community invoice. Clean, Drain, Dry to help stop the spread.

With summer almost here, we’re sharing a quick refresher on public wharf use in Sicamous.🚤

Our public wharves are shared spaces, and time limits help keep them open and accessible for everyone heading out on the water.

Here’s what to keep in mind:
⚓ Main Street Landing Wharf
Vessels can moor for up to two hours.

⚓ Overnight mooring not permitted
No overnight mooring is permitted at or next to any public wharf between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m.

⚓ Finlayson Street Dock
This dock is for active loading and unloading next to the boat launch. Mooring is limited to 15 minutes.

Following these limits helps make sure there’s room for everyone to enjoy boating in Sicamous all summer long.

This is part of our “Did You Know?” Bylaw Series, sharing helpful info about community guidelines in Sicamous.💡
