Hollywood, here they come!

We had very special guests in the terminal today. Acro Canine Crew is flying out of YEG, LA-bound for the next round of America's Got Talent

This all-female acro troupe (aged 7 to 21) stole the show, and a Golden Buzzer from Terry Crews himself, with their high-flying routine (and very good) dogs. Best part? They're from right here in Edmonton.

They're catching a non-stop WestJet flight straight to LA, because when you're this ready for the spotlight, why wait?

Break a leg, crew. All of YEG is cheering for you!

Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Alberta are warning residents to be cautious of cryptocurrency investment scams. Cryptocurrency-related fraud continues to impact communities across Canada, including Strathcona County.

Fraudsters often use professional-looking websites, promises of guaranteed returns and high-pressure tactics to convince people to invest. If an opportunity seems too good to be true, it probably is.

As traffic increases around schools, remember to slow down in school zones, watch for pedestrians and crossing guards, and give yourself extra time during your commute.

Alberta RCMP School Resource Officers are looking forward to connecting with students this year! And in communities without a dedicated School Resource Officer, local RCMP members continue to work closely with schools to support student safety and well-being all year round.

Strathcona County RCMP Remind the Public of Small Vehicle Rules and Regulations

Sherwood Park, Alta. – Strathcona County RCMP, in partnership with Strathcona County Enforcement Services, are reminding the public of the rules and regulations that apply to small vehicles operating on County roads, pathways, and public spaces.

Different types of vehicles are subject to different requirements under provincial legislation and municipal bylaws. Understanding where a vehicle can be operated and whether a licence, registration, or insurance is required can help prevent collisions, injuries, and enforcement action.

Electric motorcycles or mopeds:

✔️A minimum of a Class 7 license and minimum age of 14 years is required.
✔️The vessel also requires registration, insurance and occupants must wear a helmet.

Electric power-assisted bicycles:

⚫️No driver’s license, registration or insurance is required, and the minimum riding age is 12 years.

⚫️A helmet is required.

⚫️The vessel can have a maximum power if 500 watts and a top speed of 32 km/hr and are prohibited from being operated on pedestrian sidewalks but are permitted on paved multi-use paths.

Electric scooters:

⚫️Strathcona County does not have any approved licensed operators, and the use of privately owned e-scooters on public roadways is prohibited.

Off-highway vehicles (OHVs), including electric dirt bikes and all-terrain vehicles (ATVs):

⚫️A valid driver’s license is required if the vessel is operated on any roadway.

⚫️The minimum driving age is 14 yrs.

⚫️Registration and Insurance are required.

⚫️Helmets are mandatory.

The Alberta RCMP encourage all vehicle operators to review the laws that apply to their mode of transportation and to always prioritize safe and responsible operation.

After a distinguished career of service, leadership, and dedication to Strathcona County Emergency Services, Fire Chief Martin Paulson is retiring.

Chief Paulson has dedicated years to serving our community and leading the members of Strathcona County Emergency Services. His commitment to the fire service and the people we serve has left a lasting impact on our organization and our community.

On behalf of the members of Strathcona Firefighters Local 2461, thank you, Chief Paulson, for your leadership, your service, and your dedication.

We wish you all the best in retirement. You’ve earned it.
