Congratulations to all members who successfully completed their NFPA 1002 Pump Operations course this past week.

Pump operations are a critical component of the fireground, requiring technical knowledge, sound decision making, and a strong understanding of water supply and fire suppression tactics. The commitment shown by these members to further their training helps strengthen our department and improves the service we provide to our community.

Thank you for your hard work, dedication, and willingness to continue developing your skills. Your commitment to training today helps ensure we're prepared for the challenges of tomorrow.

June is Men's Health Month.

As firefighters, we're trained to respond when others need help. We check on our crews, support our communities, and put ourselves between danger and those we serve. But too often, we neglect our own health in the process.

Men continue to face challenges related to physical health, mental health, stress, and seeking support when they need it. Research shows that social expectations, caregiving responsibilities, and stigma around asking for help can have a significant impact on men's well-being.

This month is a reminder to take care of yourself the same way you would take care of your partner, your family, or a member of your crew.

✔ Book the medical appointment
✔ Get screened
✔ Stay active
✔ Check in on your mental health
✔ Reach out to a brother who's been quiet lately

Strength isn't carrying everything alone. Strength is recognizing when it's time to look after yourself and when it's time to ask for support.

Your health matters.
Your family matters.
You matter.

It’s been a wild week.

From the BBQs and pancake breakfasts, to the rallies, signs, emails, messages, and packed rooms, our community showed up in a big way.

To everyone who stood with us, spoke up, sent support, or simply reminded us why this work matters: thank you.

Strathcona County has made it clear that integrated Fire and EMS matters. Seconds count. Local care matters. And our community deserves nothing less than a world-class emergency service.

We are proud to serve. We are proud to stand together. And we are grateful for every single person who helped make their voice heard.

Thank you, Strathcona.
