Liberty has no single breed.

One of the beautiful things about the Liberty discipline is that any horse can participate. From minis to drafts, young horses to seasoned partners, Liberty is about the relationship, not the breed.

Different horses bring different personalities, talents, and expressions to Liberty, and that diversity is part of what makes this discipline so special. Whether your partner is refined, powerful, playful, or quiet, every horse has something unique to offer when given the freedom to communicate and connect.

To our ELO family,

As we prepare for the 2026 ELO Liberty & Bridleless Nationals, we have an important update regarding our venue. While our journey has taken an unexpected turn, we are thrilled to announce that we are landing somewhere truly special.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, we are moving our 2026 Nationals from Tryon to the iconic Kentucky Horse Park (KHP) in Lexington, KY.

The Details Stay the Same:
📅 Dates: October 30 – November 1, 2026 📍 New Location: Kentucky Horse Park, Lexington, KY

Transparency is key to our community. This change was not part of our original plan. Unfortunately, Tryon recently booked the National Horse Show for the same weekend. Despite having a signed contract, it became clear that our event would not be given the priority it deserves. After exhausting every possible avenue to protect our spot, we chose to pivot rather than compromise on the quality of your experience.

While the shift was unexpected, we are moving forward with incredible optimism! Scrambling for a last-minute venue of this caliber was a challenge, but finding a home at the Kentucky Horse Park is a massive win for our organization.

Competing at the KHP is a bucket-list item for many equestrians AND for many of our members, Lexington offers a more central and accessible travel route.

We understand this change may cause some logistical adjustments, and we sincerely appreciate your flexibility. We navigated this with your best interests at heart, refusing to settle for anything less than a premier national-level stage.

Stay tuned—we’ll be sharing more details regarding the event very soon.

Thank you for your unwavering support and for "riding" with us through the pivots. We can’t wait to see you in Kentucky this October!

In addition to rules, our team has been working behind the scenes to complete our 2026 judging rubric!

We’re so excited to share this with you all, so you can familiarize yourself with the judging process at ELO and be prepared for your first in person or virtual show.

At ELO we always want to prioritize horsemanship and the true beauty of liberty that we all love so much. This is why our judging system is based 40% on maneuvers and 60% on foundational components.

Did you know, our ELO academies are international??

The Stride High Stables ELO Academy, located in Alberta, Canada, offers a supportive learning environment for its members. Managed by Rachelle Reichert, this academy helps equestrians grow their liberty skills through a variety of activities. Members can expect to receive assistance with filming entries for virtual ELO competitions, as well as the opportunity to participate in in-person shows every year. This blend of consistent training, competition support, and local community focus is designed to foster positive connection and horsemanship.
