June 11 Sew/Work Day Update:

We had a full house yesterday with 18 volunteers dropping off/picking up and sewing for us. Members updated us via text after yesterday, commenting that the conversations were great. They all enjoyed chatting up a storm. Comments included: “Another great day of sewing and chatter!!”

Members were busy piecing flannel yesterday for quilt backings along with other tasks.

The beautiful heart quilt top shown here was a hand quilted top donation from Marilyn, which the Stony Plain Friends Group added the border on.

We also want to thank Stan for his generous donation of two boxes of clear and blue bags that we use for transporting our quilt tops.

Thank you also to the members who have volunteered to help with the kit cutting process.

Check it out here:

Quilters may use any pattern of their choice so long as the size specifications are met (50″ x 70″, plus or minus 2″).

Volunteer driver needed to transport 10 VQC quilts from Edmonton to Grande Prairie for delivery to those in their area diagnosed with cancer.
Must provide a smoke free environment in vehicle.

May 14 Sew Day Update:

Several beautiful colorful quilts tops prepared by Shelli were received this month. Margaret's group gave us matching tote bags along with their quilt tops. Numerous quilts received from Judi. Thank you to everyone who is sewing quilt tops from their personal inventory of fabric. It is greatly appreciated. With over 17 volunteers attending, dropping off and picking up kits, we got a lot of binding completed and more to do. A warm welcome to our new members, for joining the group.

The next Edmonton Branch Victoria Quilts Canada Sew Day is Thursday, May 14th.

It will be at Lori's Country Cottage (130 Broadway Blvd #250, Sherwood Park, AB T8H 2A3) from 10AM - 4PM

Quilt kits will be available for pickup. If anyone needs fabric or anything else, please contact [email protected] by May 11th.

April 9 Sew Day was very productive. The volunteers managed to complete the binding on several quilt tops and we were able to move them along to delivery. The Monday / Wednesday Ponoka Friends Group with Lynn stopped by for a nice visit along with 32 quilt tops to add to our production. Karry and her Friends Group with Margaret also brought in 17 quilt tops from the Parkland area. Suzanne from Fox Creek, Shelli, Jean, and others also contributed with quilt tops from their own stash.

Many thanks to all our volunteers and to Lori’s Country Cottage for the donated space for our monthly Sew Day, and to our long arm people, delivery people and everyone working in the background contributing to making quilts for cancer.
