The LDWC “Take the Wheel” Driver’s License Bursary is designed to support women who are facing financial barriers in obtaining their learner driver’s license and help get women behind the wheel.
For 2026, the bursary seeks to help three women obtain their learner driver's license by covering the costs associated with Phase 1 driving lessons at an accredited driving school as well as the associated exam and learner permit fees to the Société de l'assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ), ensuring that recipients can focus on successfully completing the first phase of their driver’s education without financial stress.
🔸Eligibility Criteria:
· Applicants must identify as women.
· Applicants must demonstrate financial need.
· Applicants must reside in the Estrie region of Quebec (territory served by LDWC).
· Applicants must be ready and eligible to enroll in driving school in fall 2026.
🔸What the Bursary Covers:
· Driving school fees for Phase 1 (theory lessons and course materials)
· SAAQ fees for exam and initial learner’s permit
🔸Application Process
To apply, complete the application form and provide supporting documents demonstrating financial need. Applications will be reviewed by the LDWC bursary committee of the Board of Directors, and successful candidates will be notified within 30 days of the submission deadline.
