​THROUGH THE FOG
​Chilly autumn morning fog tries hard to cling to the lighthouse, but the sun wages a winning battle to chase it away and illuminate the icon so dear to so many.
​It is interesting to think about the battles this lighthouse has faced and withstood. First there is its constant battle with its biggest foe - the sea. The relentless waves that pound against it during hurricanes and seem determined to destroy the valiant harbour soldier.
​Then comes its battle against the advance of technology and the decommissioning of its foghorn and light. Suddenly replaced by newfangled equipment making it obsolete for the purpose it was built.
​The general battle of apathy of our provincial government who in their foggy judgement seem determined to allow our heritage to simply disappear.
​But thanks to a dedicated group of volunteers the Sandy Point Lighthouse is set to rise through the fogs that have plagued it and I believe will appear in pride again in the spotlight at the entrance to Shelburne Harbour.

A heartfelt update from Sandy Point Lighthouse ⚓📸

​We feel terrible about this, but we've made the decision to pull the 2027 calendar and reprint them.
​Out of deep respect for our photographers and their incredible work, we want to make sure we are offering the absolute best quality possible to showcase every unique perspective of our beloved lighthouse.
​Because of this, we are also humbly postponing our official photography contest winner announcement just a little bit longer so we can reveal the winners alongside the gorgeous new calendars. We'll let you know when they've been reprinted, but you'll be able to find them at Locke's Sporting Goods and Homeport Gifts.
If you have already purchased a calendar we will be glad to exchange it when the new ones are available.
​Thank you so much for your grace and understanding. We promise the new editions will be well worth the wait!
