Three weeks from right now I will be sitting in my chair reflecting. Our Bike to Beat Cancer / Shelburne 32 event will be over. I'm so hopeful that our community breakfast will have been a great success. There will be nothing greater than seeing the Ingomar Roseway Community Hall full of hungry people supporting our event.
I will very likely be sitting in this chair exhausted. I will have completed riding the full 32 kilometers together with ten or twenty or fifty riders. Not sure how many, but I know rain or shine, this guy will complete the full ride. I will have had lots of time to reflect on the people I am pedaling for. My Father. My Brother. My Sister. My neighbour who lost their mother. My neighbour who lost his wife. My fisherman friends who are battling. My pastor friend who continues the fight. My Church friends who we pray for. My work colleagues. Unfortunately, the list is way to long. Everyone riding is riding for someone. Everyone reading this has someone in their circle. I will take great pride in completing the ride and hope that in my circle they know that I rode for them.
At the end of the ride, we will have a barbeque, some music and the chance to tell our stories of why we were riding.
The real reason for the event is to raise awareness and monies for the Canadian Cancer Society. How much will we raise, I can't predict today but I can say, every dollar raised will benefit and be welcomed by the Canadian Cancer Society.
I've told you who I'm riding for and why I started this event to begin with. I sure hope you will join us for breakfast, for the ride or for the barbeque. Together we can and do make a difference.
Question remains - who will you show the love for, who will you be riding for?
