At midnight tonight ..

The Restricted Fire Zone (RFZ) previously in place for the Northwest Region and a small portion of the Northeast Region will be revoked, effective Thursday, August 20 at 12:01 a.m. local time.

The Ministry of Natural Resources would like to thank Ontarians and visitors for doing their part to help prevent wildland fires and keep communities safe. Please continue to use extreme caution and follow Ontario’s Outdoor Fires Regulations when having an outdoor fire -

ontario.ca/outdoorfirerules.


The province will continue to assess wildland fire hazard conditions, and an RFZ designation may be reinstated in higher risk areas if the fire hazard and fire activity warrants it.

The shebandowan fire team completed thier SP103 certification course this weekend. This is the MNR certification course for wildfire response With Chief Horan from Oliver Papooinge.

Here is mnr update for today.
So fire ban is still on.. but risk is down but this warm weather is drying things out again.
We still have travel restrictions into the fire area. See below.
As for questions about saunas and wood stoves and the fire ban . You can use an enclosed woodstove with a proper chimney and chimney cap that won't emit sparks etc. But no firepits or open fires of any kind.

The evacuation order alert is recinded. But we still have a fire ban.

Update for Monday.
I was hoping for something good from MNR about Shebandowan and Kashabowie and area . They said the fire risk is still there. We need several days of rain.
We have 5 days in forecast of 28 to 30 deg. C.

Like previous updates, Today was good. Fire hasn't moved south past Baril lake.
The risk on this has gone down substantially but everybody is working on these fires. If something new pops up outside of the area it would be bad.
So think of it as we are holding our own, everybody's working and getting work done. We can't handle any more work.

So we just have to relax and enjoy the summer. We have nice weather for next week

And still no open fires for now.

Just a quick update on ff14.
Mnr is working hard get the north and south limits of this fire secure.
We keep missing all the big rain which does not help.
Humidity is up and that helps but the heat is making it potentially worse for risk if heat continues.
Here is portion of mnr update for today. I just included the portion on ff14. The Map has not changed.
We still have a fire risk and no open fires.
Hoping mnr has some good news for tomorrow.
