This year marks 30 years of the Canadian Journal of Rural Medicine, a milestone in advancing rural health scholarship, advocacy, and community in Canada and beyond.

Dr. Sarah Giles, President of the Society of Rural Physicians of Canada, presented SRPC's Pre-Budget Submission to the House of Commons Standing Committee on Finance (FINA).

SRPC's asks:
✅ $25M over 3 years to scale physician advanced skills training in rural & remote communities
✅ A Pan-Canadian Rural & Remote Health Workforce Strategy
✅ A HESA study on the unique health needs of rural Canada
✅ A dedicated rural stream in the Federal Health Infrastructure Fund

Investing in rural communities is not an act of charity; it is a strategic national necessity!

Today, we recognize the family physicians supporting patients and communities across Canada every day, especially in rural and remote areas where continuity of care and a broad scope of practice are essential. Thank you for the work you do to keep care close to home.

Today is National Physicians’ Day in Canada.👨‍⚕️👩‍⚕️🏥

Not all physicians work in large hospitals. Some deliver babies, take shifts in the ER, and see patients in clinic, sometimes all in one day. Some care for entire communities. 🏡🏞️

Today, we celebrate rural physicians. Happy National Physicians’ Day. 🎉
