When we’re unable to connect in ways that feel meaningful, it can lead to loneliness and impact both our mental and physical health. But strong, supportive, healthy relationships can help us feel a sense of belonging, security, and self-worth.

Healthy relationships are often built on simple but meaningful qualities:
• Care and empathy
• Understanding and validation
• Trust and openness
• Clear, respectful communication

These connections also help us recognize when we need support, and feel more comfortable reaching out when we do.

This Mental Health Week, the Canadian Mental Health Association encourages us to nurture the relationships that support our well-being. 💛

💚 Play Isn’t Just for Kids — It’s for Parents Too

When we think about play, we often focus on our kids — but play is just as important for parents’ mental health. Taking time to be playful can help reduce stress, boost mood, and bring a sense of lightness back into busy days.
Play doesn’t have to be complicated or time-consuming. It can be simple, spontaneous, and even a little silly.

Here are a few easy ways to bring more play into your day:
🎲 Join in your child’s games — even for a few minutes
🚶‍♀️ Turn a walk into a playful adventure (race to the next tree, skip, or explore)
🎨 Try something creative like drawing, building, or crafting together
😂 Be silly — laugh, dance, or make up games as you go
📵 Let go of expectations and enjoy the moment

Play helps shift your mindset, ease tension, and strengthen your connection with your kids — all at the same time.

It’s not about doing it perfectly. It’s about giving yourself permission to have fun, too. 💚

Social Connection is a key part of our overall health and well-being. Yet for many people, that sense of connection is missing, with loneliness becoming an increasingly common experience across Canada.

From May 4–10, the Canadian Mental Health Association is highlighting Mental Health Week with the theme Come Together. It’s about encouraging simple, genuine moments of connection in our everyday lives and recognizing how much those moments matter in supporting one another’s mental health.

Each conversation, check-in, or shared moment can help someone feel a little less alone. And when we come together, we build more supportive, compassionate communities for everyone.

Because connection strengthens mental health.
