🌟 Wish List Wednesday 🌟

Backpacks are being packed, pencils are sharpened, and students across our communities are heading back to school next week! 🎒

This week, we’re focusing on school snacks to help local families fill those lunch kits:

🍎 Healthy granola bars
🍊 Fruit cups & applesauce cups
🧃 Juice boxes
🥨 Individually packaged crackers & snacks
🍇 Raisins & dried fruit
🥣 Individual cereal or oatmeal

When you’re picking up snacks for your own family this week, consider adding an extra box or two to your cart. Small donations can make a big difference in helping local families start the school year well. 💛

🌟 Wish List Wednesday 🌟

Our pantry shelves need a little restocking! 💙
This week, we’re especially looking for everyday non-perishable pantry staples that help us put together nutritious, easy-to-prepare meals for local individuals and families.

We’re especially hoping for donations of:
• Mac & Cheese (like KD)
• Pasta & pasta sauce
• Canned fruit
• Canned (or frozen) vegetables
• Canned meals
• Instant noodles (like Sidekicks)
• Other non-perishable pantry staples

These are the everyday items that families rely on, and keeping our shelves stocked means we can continue providing food when our neighbours need a little extra support.

• Sexsmith Food Bank – located in the Sexsmith Community Centre (Wednesdays, 6–8 p.m.)

🌟 Wish List Wednesday 🌟

A few everyday grocery items can make a big difference for local families!
As summer continues, many household budgets are being stretched, and simple meal staples are some of the first items to disappear from our shelves. Your support helps ensure we can continue providing families with food that is quick, nutritious, and easy to prepare.
This week, we're especially hoping for donations of:

• Instant noodles
• Mac & Cheese (like KD)
• Meals in a can
• Family-sized snacks

We would also greatly appreciate donations of fresh:
• Eggs
• Fresh vegetables
• Margarine
• Ground hamburger
• Cheez Whiz (the Costco size is usually around $6.99 and is a fantastic value!)

Thankful Thursday 💛

This week, we're especially thankful for the big heart of a young community member.

Recently, a 5-year-old boy stopped by after running his own lemonade stand and generously donated a portion of his earnings to the Food Bank. He proudly delivered his donation in person, and we had the opportunity to show him around, talk about how the Food Bank helps families, and chat about some of the foods kids his age enjoy.

It's inspiring to see kindness and generosity take root at such a young age. Acts like this remind us that making a difference doesn't depend on age, it starts with a caring heart.

Thank you for thinking of others and helping support families in our community. You are making a difference! 🍋💛

What a cold and wet Chautauqua Day, but also a hugely successful BBQ!

We are so grateful to our many volunteers who braved the elements to help serve our community. Your time, energy, and good humour made it all possible, and your efforts directly support our local food bank.

Thank you as well to everyone who chose to support the food bank with their lunch purchase. Every burger purchased helps us continue to provide food and support to those in need right here in our community.

We would also like to extend a HUGE thank you to the sponsors of this event: Carnivore's Meat Shop, Clairmont Grocery Store, Tags Food & Gas, Sexsmith, AB /Sexsmith Tempo, and ARC Resources. Your generosity helps us continue to do this important work in our community.

Even in less than ideal weather, the spirit of Chautauqua Day was strong, and we are so thankful to everyone who came out in support.

The grill is heating up and our volunteers are getting ready to serve you the best lunch that will make a huge difference for those in need right here in our own community.

Today is the day for the Sexsmith & Area Food Bank Chautauqua Day BBQ on Main Street!

Stop by for a delicious lunch, enjoy a great community atmosphere, and help support a meaningful cause right here at home. Every purchase helps us continue to support local individuals and families facing food insecurity.

Chautauqua Day is getting closer, and we are dreaming about a full day of great food, great company, and a great cause.

When you join us at the Sexsmith & Area Food Bank BBQ on Main Street, you are helping make our wish list come true by supporting local families and individuals facing food insecurity right here in our community.

We will also have donation bins on site for current-dated non-perishable food donations like peanut butter and canned meals.

The Sexsmith and Area Food Bank is gearing up for one of our BIGGEST fundraisers of the year, our Chautauqua Day BBQ on June 6, and we’d love your help!

There are so many ways to support this community event:
🍔 Volunteer for a shift at the BBQ
🥫 Drop off donations for the Food Bank
🌭 Grab your lunch from our burger stand and help support local families

We’re looking for volunteers ages 12+ for a variety of afternoon shifts. Every helping hand makes a difference!
