June is National Indigenous History Month and June 21 is National Indigenous Peoples Day 🙌

Learning doesn’t have to start with a big commitment. It can start with one action:

đŸ›ïž Support an Indigenous-owned business
📚 Read a book by an Indigenous author
🎉 Attend an Indigenous event
đŸ—ș Learn whose lands you live on
💬 Have a conversation
đŸŒ± Teach the next generation
đŸ“± Follow Indigenous voices

Share your ideas in the comments below 😊

To our IPAC community,

On National Physicians Day, we just want to take a moment.
We’re thinking about all the ways you show up.

In clinics, in hospitals, in community. With patients, families, and learners.

We know this work isn’t always easy. A lot of what you carry isn’t always seen. And still, you keep going.

You’re caring for people.
You’re supporting each other.
You’re helping make space for Indigenous voices in medicine.

There were dreams of being seen in these spaces.
Of seeing someone who looks like you.
You’re that for someone now.

We’re grateful for all you carry.

🕯 A small flame can hold big hope.

The tutulshenam candle was created as a symbol of healing, remembrance, and the path forward. Every candle helps support tutulshenam-ĂĄwtxw (Healing House) on the Sunshine Coast and the goal of getting shovels in the ground this year.

Donate $100 or more and receive a candle designed by Coast Salish artist Jessica Silvey (Red Cedar Woman).

Light it in honour of someone you love.
Light it in memory of someone you miss.
Light it for those still finding their way.

As we mark 10 years since the toxic drug crisis was declared a public health emergency in BC, we are deeply honoured to acknowledge the Sunshine Coast Healthcare Auxiliary Society and their extraordinary $100,000 contribution in support of tutulshenam-ĂĄwtxw (Healing House).

For decades, the Sunshine Coast Healthcare Auxiliary has played a vital role in enhancing the quality of healthcare across the region—providing volunteer services, raising essential funds, and fostering strong community support for the hospital and related healthcare programs. Their legacy of care and commitment continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of people on the Sunshine Coast.

This transformative gift brings us significantly closer to realizing a dedicated healing and recovery space for BC First Nations communities. A new facility, grounded in culture, community, and trauma-informed care.

We are profoundly grateful for your leadership, generosity, and shared commitment to strengthening health and wellbeing across the Sunshine Coast.

The data illustrates the continued disparity between First Nations and non-First Nations people in BC. While First Nations people represent 3.4% of BC's population, in 2025, they represented 15.8% of toxic drug poisoning deaths. Since 2016, 2,836 First ...

Ten years ago, the toxic drug crisis was declared a public health emergency in BC. Still... over 18,000 people have died because of the toxic drug supply since then. While there has been a decline in deaths, one death is still too many.

The toxic drug public health emergency continues to disproportionately affect First Nations communities across BC. Data shows that First Nations-led, culturally safe harm-reduction efforts are saving lives.
