Situated in Sunshine Bay at the west end of Lake Wabamun, Alberta, across from the Town of Seba Beach, SBYC is a members managed sailing club offering a club house, floating docks and other facilities.

Drenched in tradition, our annual Sail Past is a time-honoured ceremony that officially marks the beginning of the sailing season.

Members and the Board of Directors gather this weekend for an on-shore ceremony, blessings for a safe and successful season, and the traditional procession past the Commodore, with ensigns dipped in salute.

Events like Sail Past are part of what makes our SBYC club community so special. If you’re interested in learning more about the club, sailing, or membership opportunities, we’d be happy to welcome you for a tour.

Everyone enjoys the water a little differently - and we welcome the diversity! Some people enjoy the thrill of keelboat racing (Wed nights), and some people want to just take a Sunday cruise after brunch at the clubhouse. Some people like being at the lake and docks when it's quiet on a mid-week afternoon, and others enjoy the vibrant social events that are scattered throughout the summer. Whatever your preference, SBYC has the facilities and an events schedule to support it. Check it out today!

The ice is a little late coming off the lake this year, but we're still looking forward to a long sailing season. First step - launch the fleet! Volunteers and members of the club help each other get the boats in the water and masts up and ready to sail. Our members are dedicated volunteers with a range of knowledge and skills! Having volunteers for taks around the clubhouse, grounds, docks, and events helps keep costs down for everyone and all members benefit! Thank you to all of our great members for their contributions over the year 👏

We've been patiently waiting! Soon our members will be at the clubhouse, dusting off the winter and getting the grounds and buildings ready for another busy season!

Our Board of Directors are dedicated volunteers who help govern the club with clear mandates that our members help decide. From Strategic Planning, Financial Management, Assets and Liabilities, our Board is committed to helping the club grow and thrive for the benefit of all members.

Soon we'll be enjoying the beautiful clubhouse overlooking Sunshine Bay. From large decks equipped with natural gas BBQ's and picnic tables to a fully stocked kitchen with a large island and shower facilities, the clubhouse is a natural gathering space for members to enjoy the lake and all it's beauty.

SBYC comes together as a team to open our facilities and install our docks for the season. We are now one month away (dependant on ice off the lake) from that date! Now is a great time to reach out if you are interested in membership! Just message us through social media and we'll be sure to respond!
