Congratulations to another AM ETFO Environmental Grant recipient! With this funding, students were able to explore hands-on learning in the greenhouse by growing a variety of plants, including avocados, basil, chives, mint, and lettuce. The project gave students the opportunity to care for living things, observe plant growth, and even taste some of the herbs and greens they helped grow. What a wonderful way to connect students with nature, sustainability, and outdoor learning!

HAPPENING THIS WEEK: Join an Ontario Education Coalition protest on August 29. More than 50 rallies for public education are taking place on August 29 across Ontario (10:00 am in Stratford at City Hall, and 1:00 pm in Blyth at Lisa Thompson's office), organized by the Ontario Education Coalition and the Fight Ford Protests. Participate in a local action near you – and bring an ETFO flag! Every rally is an important opportunity for parents, educators, and concerned residents to demand better for students in the public education system.

More than 800 ETFO members attended the ETFO Annual Meeting this past week, including members from our local. Delegates received reports of the officers and committees and financial statements, elected officers, and debated and voted on motions that direct the union’s activities, priorities, and budget. Along with the important work of the meeting, members also had the chance to connect at a formal dinner...where our local proudly continued our tradition of showing up in matching funky suits!

We are proud to see Laura representing members and contributing to important provincial conversations about the ETFO Employee Life and Health Trust (ELHT). We are thankful for her leadership, advocacy, and ongoing commitment to supporting members.
