If anyone gets a new helmet for Christmas please consider donating your old one to your North Shuswap First Responders. We are looking for a size S, M, L, XL, and XXL. We need them to practice safe removal for spine protection. If you have an old one for us please send a message via messenger. Thank you😁

We are super excited-Santa is getting ready to join us along with 22 floats and walking groups on Friday Dec 12th.
A great family evening for everyone!

REMINDER: Squilax Anglemont Road will be closed at 5:15 to 6:15 from Imai Road to the Scotch Creek Market for the Santa Parade.

Today is United Nations International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

On this day, we acknowledge the importance of accessibility and inclusivity in emergency planning.

Having a disability often means taking preparedness actions that go beyond the “basics”.

Here are a few things you can do:

Build a trusted support network of at least three people ✔️

Make a health information card ✔️

Practice explaining how others can support you and operate any health equipment during an emergency ✔️

It's Giving Tuesday! Today we're asking our North Shuswap community to concider supporting the North Shuswap First Responders. Our volunteers are out there day and night helping those in need, and we're currently raising funds to purchase equipment that keeps our responders safe- items like clip on carbon monoxide detectors and high visibility clothing for roadside calls. Every dontation, big or small, helps us stay safe while we help others. E-transfers can be sent to [email protected]

𝗕𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 “𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿”! 💨

Carbon monoxide (CO) gets its nickname👆 for a reason. It’s odourless, colourless, and tasteless, making it impossible to detect with your senses.

CO poisoning is more common than many realize. Every year, hundreds of Canadians are affected. Here’s what to do if you suspect it:

➡️𝗜𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘁, and his or her ABCs are unaffected: call your local Poison Control Centre.
➡️ 𝗜𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗼𝗿 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘆 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴: call EMS/9-1-1 and get an AED.
➡️𝗜𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴: start CPR using a barrier device so that you don’t contaminate yourself.
