The KGO-ALP is a Neighbourhood Trust initiative that began based on the reality that nearly 56% of adults in the Kingston-Galloway-Orton Park community lack the basic literacy skills to succeed. With the support of the Resident Action Grant from the United Way of Greater Toronto KGO-ALP was established in the Summer 2013, initially as a 10-week pilot and progressed to 12 weeks in the Winter 2014.

Now, KGO-ALP is runs as a 9-month program (from September to June) in order to build capacity in improving the literacy skills of adults in the East Scarborough community.
