My phones been dead all morning while at work, but I will try to do an update shortly! We still a ways to go! SURGERY IS TOMORROW!!! PLS SHARE! And consider donating your coffee money to an animal in need today! ❤️🐾

🚨 HELP!!! 🚨

Update: $1580.00 to go!

We are once again in urgent need of funds. We have 4 surgeries coming up FAST with 2 this week. All 4 will be held at the Kapuskasing Veterinary Hospital.

TOMORROW we have a kitty spay and THURSDAY we have a dog spay. The total for both is $1711.00. I have faith that with our supporters we can get these bills paid ❤️🤞🏼

Here’s the kicker — it’s just come to my attention that the clinic will be formally closing in the near future (we were aware of this but not the second part) and is no longer making any future appointment dates. They are fully booked up until they close, meaning these appointments are our only options! Interested in helping? ⬇️⬇️

At this time I get many requests for animals in need, but I have to say no. Our adoption fees don’t nearly cover the total of vetting our animals receive. I have been exploring some other options to alleviate some of the financial burden, but for now we need to focus on completing these surgeries. It truly takes a village, and I appreciate every share, like, comment, and donation ❤️

👏❤️ Such a great initiative. Give her page a like at Safe Haven Program

A face to the name,

My name is Mel and I started this program after having an unfortunate event occur that wound me and my pets fleeing and homeless. Being so lucky, I was able to couch surf at friends and placed my pets with someone i trusted. Not everyone is so lucky. Many have lost their pets due to fleeing domestic situations, entering a shelter, homeless and on the streets or having to stay in the hospital. I couldn’t stand it. Facing some of the hardest times of your life AND losing your pets, it’s not fair. In hopes of helping as many people as I could, I branched off from the rescue and opened this program and have successfully helped many. However, I am currently the only foster.. I have 2 cats and a dog of my own, I am fostering a cat from another rescue and currently have Caine. I am limited to what I can intake, I am full and when I’m full, I have to say no to those who needed me most. It’s tough. Please consider opening your home to temporarily foster an animal who will reunite with their owners.

Late adoption post! ⭐️🐾

Hey guys!!! REMEMBER ME!?!
ITS DEXTER! 💙😍

Dexter was originally from a shelter in Quebec where he had spent the majority of his life. Dropped off at only approx 6 months old as a “stray”, he came into rescue at almost 2, with a few issues he needed to work through. Due to this, his first two foster homes did not work out, and I became weary and worried we may have had to send him to boarding, (not that I didn’t want him to get the training he needed but because sending him back to another shelter lifestyle could be detrimental - this guy already travelled across country to Alberta with some puppies to another shelter only to be told they were full and landed back in Quebec, he already got his freedom ticket twice, the confusion was already all too real for him. What he needed was a safe space to decompress and a strong compassionate handler to help him navigate life as a house dog.) With some support from our friends at Cottage Paws Rescue we were able to pull through, and Dexter ended up heading to Owen sound to bunker down with an amazing foster home with Kim and Karen.

Upon arrival, Dexter fell in absolute love with Karen, and despite some of his quarks, I think the feeling was somewhat mutual. After quite some time, it was evident there was nobody better to train, keep, and to love this guy than those who were already his caretakers, a foster fail, his furever home. ❤️

This lucky guy has been registered for doggy daycare too, where he’s made some friends, and his parents always get a glowing update upon pickup! It’s safe to say after his rough beginning, Dexter has hit the jackpot. We wish him the happiest of lives, thank you Karen and Kim for staying strong and holding on❤️ Happy Life 🥰🥰

Sunday Update ⭐️ 🐾

It’s been made official! Kelso’s adoption papers were signed and he has been dubbed with a new full name 🥰 We are so happy for this little guy!

Kelso is a small reminder on how important it is to adopt don’t shop, and if you do go to a breeder pls be sure it is a licensed ETHICAL breeder, and ask to see mom and dad. Stay away from backyard breeders who sell their pups with no vetting and papers, as you may just end up with a dog riddled with genetic issues that require much more than the typical pup.

We still have a small balance left from Kelso’s surgery, as well as his final eye drop medication. Anyone looking to assist with these bills it is greatly appreciated at this time, every little bit helps! ❤️

Good luck Kelso! 🎇
