Riding for Hope: The Journey of the Dragonfly Run in Sault Ste Marie

The Dragonfly Run in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario, has been a beacon of hope and support for the Arch Hospice for the past eight years. This biography delves into the heartwarming story of how a dedicated group of volunteers and the generosity of the local community came together to make a lasting impact on the lives of those in nee

d. Inception of a Dream
It all began with a vision to support the Arch Hospice, a vital institution providing compassionate care to those nearing the end of life's journey. The Ride for Arch was the brainchild of passionate motorcycle riders and enthusiasts who wanted to channel their love for riding into a meaningful cause. The first event saw a small but dedicated group hitting the road for charity, planting the seeds for what would become an annual tradition of giving and camaraderie. The Evolution into Dragonfly Run
As the years passed, the Ride for Arch grew in popularity and impact. With each successful event, the organizers realized the potential to reach even greater heights. Thus, the Dragonfly Run was born, symbolizing resilience, transformation, and the spirit of hope that defines the Arch Hospice's mission. The rebranding brought renewed energy and enthusiasm, attracting a diverse range of participants and supporters. Driving Change, One Ride at a Time
The Dragonfly Run became more than just a fundraising event; it became a community-wide celebration of compassion and generosity. Every August, riders and supporters from all walks of life come together for a day of unity and purpose. Despite the challenges of organizing such a large-scale event, the dedication of volunteers never wavers, fueled by the knowledge that every dollar raised directly benefits the Arch Hospice. A Day of Joy and Giving
The Dragonfly Run is not just about motorcycles; it's a festival of kindness and solidarity. The Dunk booth, courtesy of the Echo Bay Recreation Center, adds a splash of fun, while Darren Emond's whimsical caricatures bring smiles to everyone's faces. Local bands showcase their talents, food is generously donated by community members, and businesses contribute equipment and resources, showcasing the incredible spirit of collaboration in Sault Ste Marie. Acknowledging Generosity and Impact
The success of the Dragonfly Run wouldn't be possible without the unwavering support of the Sault Ste Marie community. From individuals who participate in the event to businesses that sponsor and donate, every contribution makes a difference. The funds raised help the Arch Hospice fulfill its mission of providing dignified end-of-life care, offering comfort and solace to patients and their families during challenging times. As we reflect on eight years of the Dragonfly Run's journey, we are filled with gratitude for everyone who has been part of this incredible story. Together, we have shown that even in a small city like Sault Ste Marie, great things can be achieved when people come together with compassion and generosity. The Dragonfly Run continues to inspire hope, unite communities, and make a lasting impact on the lives of those in need, embodying the spirit of giving that defines the Arch Hospice and its supporters.

Just sent out the vendor emails for this year’s ARCH Dragonfly Run and I’m feeling so excited. 🖤🧡

Every year this event comes together because of kind-hearted people, local businesses, volunteers, musicians, riders, and community members who believe in showing up for something bigger than themselves.

This year’s ride is happening Sunday, August 23, 2026 at The Grand Gardens, and we are so grateful for every vendor — new and returning — who wants to be part of it.

This event means so much because all proceeds go to ARCH Hospice, including the vendor table fees. That means every table, every donation, every bit of support helps make a real difference.

We’ll have vendors, entertainment outside, bigger outdoor setups, a pizza and pasta buffet, and so much heart behind the whole day. Even more beautiful? So much of this event is built on a volunteer basis — including the bands performing outside. That kind of generosity says everything.

If you’re a vendor and you’ve been waiting to hear from me, your email should be on its way or already in your inbox. And if you’d like to be part of this amazing day, feel free to reach out.

It’s going to be such a special one. Community. Music. Giving back. Good people coming together for a beautiful cause.
