Today, on the anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge, we honour the courage, sacrifice and unity shown by those who served in 1917.

In the face of immense hardship, Canadians stood together and achieved what many thought impossible, shaping a legacy that continues to define the nation’s spirit today.

Their bravery reminds us that strength is found in unity.

We remember them. We honour them.

✈️ Introducing Our New Series: Faces of the Association

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be introducing some of the people who help keep our Air Force Association running — from board members to staff and volunteers.

These are the people working behind the scenes to keep the hall active, welcoming, and part of our community.

First up, we’re featuring one of our board members.

✈️ Faces of the Association: Meet Craig

Role at the Legion:
Chair of the Board

Military Service:
Army
Royal Canadian Corps of Signals - Communication Lineman
24 year and 7 months
I joined 20 March 2001

What does this Association mean to you?
“It’s a sense of comradery and community to me.”

What inspired you to join the military?:
Along time ago I figure I wanted to serve my community always have been about services as well as it was sort of the family tradition, My Great grandfather served in WW1 and my Grandfather served in WW2

What is one lesson from your time in service that has stayed with you?:
There are so many but the biggest one was to take pride in your work if you cannot put your name on it then it wasn’t done good enough.

Is there a memorable moment from your service you’d like to share? There are a few but one is being on the cenotaph guard for Nov 11 2011, and being Force Protection for the then Prime minister Harper

What do you enjoy doing outside of the Association?:
There are many things but for now I am looking forward to Motorcycle season again.

What is something people might be surprised to learn about you?:
That despite how I can come across as stern I am actually quite the opposite for the most part.

What skills from the military do you still use today?:
Almost all of them. The leadership skill transfer over quite nicely as well as my trade skills as I work for SaskTel now.

What’s your go-to drink at the Association, or a favourite thing to order at the bar?:
Used to be Burbon still sort of is but I also like a good beer.

If you see Craig around the Association, make sure to say hello!

Stay tuned as we continue sharing the Faces of the Association and the people who help make this hall what it is.

This past weekend the hall had the honour of welcoming Kris Klyne Music to our space again. He once again filled our souls with his beautiful energy.

While this time it was a private event, music shows are something we are looking at hosting ourselves, are there any local artists or bands you'd like to see us work with?
