Core Neighbourhood Youth Co-op

Core Neighbourhood Youth Co-op CNYC is an essential skills building & education program that builds opportunities for Saskatoon's youth. We work with youth between the ages of 16 and 19.

The Core Neighbourhood Youth Co-op is an essential skill building and alternative education program for all youth in Saskatoon. The Community Youth Program which runs full time out of CNYC in partnership with the Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools where youth can earn academic credits. Through our partnership with BGC Saskatoon, youth can also learn life, art, cultural teachings in a compassionate

and supportive environment. We promote the values of community, cooperation, sustainability, environmentalism, gratitude, accountability and leadership in an empowering and respectful atmosphere. Each year we work with upwards of 200 youth either in the Community Youth Program, Carpentry/Woodshop or Future Artistic Minds art nights. Most of the youth come to CNYC on their own terms but we do receive referrals from outside agencies. We believe that all youth should be able to access a safe spaces to develop workplace skills and further their education. For more information on our organization, visit www.cnyc.ca

Future Artistic Minds

Summer is just around the corner and programming will be slowing down, so we want to help prepare the youth who will be spending their time in the workforce by helping them stay informed about their rights in the workplace!

Graham Mitchell is the Organizing Director at SEIU-West, the union that represents thousands of workers in community organizations, childcare and education, and healthcare.

His presentation will focus on the rights of young people in the workplace and how you can fight for power, better wages and conditions, and fairness at work.

Please join us for this brief information session and bring any questions you might have!

Today we had the amazing Graham Karsten MacDonald from the Saskatoon Food Bank & Learning Centre who we all missed so much (we know he missed all of us too) had the youth help make pasta from scratch, meatballs and delicious frog legs.
