What We Offer

When invited, we sing at bedside in groups of two to four, to offer a moment of grace during a difficult time. Our songs are simple, soothing, and uplifting. We sing for those surrounded by loving family and for those alone at the end of their lives. We honour all spiritual paths but have no religious affiliation. Periodically we welcome new singers to our group. We ask that you be able to hold a melody or harmony part on your own and on pitch or be willing to learn these skills, to blend your voice with others', and to learn the songs we sing. We are not a performance choir and do not require auditions. To find out more, invite us to sing, or inquire about singing with us, please contact us by email.

We just sang to a couple of people in the Palliative Care Unit at St Paul's Hospital, where we go twice a month. The words of the songs we sang are the best way to explain what Threshold singing is all about, words like: "You are so loved," "You are not alone; I am here beside you," "We are all just walking each other home," and "Rest easy, love enfolds you and holds you safe."

We welcome requests to sing to those at or nearing the end of life, wherever they are (within Saskatoon).

Some FAQs about Threshold Singing:

1. Who do you sing to? Mostly people nearing the end of life, but our singing can also be soothing and relaxing for those experiencing pain, serious illness, or challenging treatments, including chemotherapy and surgery.

2. What kind of songs do you sing? Many are written especially for the purpose of Threshold singing; few are familiar. They are generally short and simple, with comforting words. Our songs are not religious and we are not affiliated with any faith tradition.

3. Can I request a visit from the Threshold Singers? Absolutely! We sing to people in their homes or wherever they are and do our best to respond as quickly as needed. Please message us through Facebook or email [email protected].

4. How much do you charge? There is no cost (but we've been told what we offer is priceless!)
