CUPE 47 had a social event and invited the other union presidents to attend. I dragged Shauna along with me and we enjoyed food and fellowship (and I won a pair of socks).

Here's what our union member Eli had to say: "Working with my community means the world to me. Getting to do storytimes and watch all my baby and toddler friends grow up, or gain critical literacy skills, or hit childhood milestones in my library truly feels rewarding and fulfilling. Getting to help my community connect to each other and try new things they might not otherwise in my programs means I get to see people finding joy and creativity, and I cannot imagine not getting to do this every day."

Here's what our union member Neil had to say: "I love working with the community. I work at a small branch where we get to know our regulars and give them personalized attention. We aim to welcome everyone who comes in through our doors with a smile and a friendly greeting; it's always rewarding when a patron returns this in kind. As library workers, we have the opportunity to provide so many important services to members of our community, whether it's helping a patron find their next great read, fax an important document, or find a place to stay for the night. It's rewarding to feel like I've been able to make a difference in someone's life, by connecting them with a service they need, and by making a human connection along the way."

Here's what our union member Elise had to say: "The women in our Let's Get Knotty crafting program have become a wonderful group of friends. We were all strangers when the program started, but now they are friends inside and outside of the library, they teach each other new things and share in life's joys together. Getting to know them and building this little community has been one of the biggest joys in my job, and this crafting program is always the highlight of my week."

Here's what our union member Paige had to say: "I love working with our community of patrons. From getting TV show, movie, and book recommendations at the service desk to hearing classes react to a storytime, it's so rewarding to be able to connect with our community on a daily basis. I've especially enjoyed the work I've gotten to do with our local community associations, such as partnering on community programs and festivals to bring library services and resources to you! It's so cool when patrons from the library recognize me at community events - I'm proud of the connections I've made through my work and always look forward to meeting our patrons and hearing their stories."
