Environmental management is an important responsibility for agrologists.

It includes decisions related to soil movement, water management, site disturbance, land use and more, and carries long-term implications for the environment, food production and society.

Agrologists apply science based assessment to help identify risks, support remediation efforts and guide responsible land management practices. This work helps protect both environmental function and long term productivity.

Myth: Agrologists only influence on-farm decisions.
Fact: Agrologists influence decisions across agriculture, food, bioresources and the environment.

Agrologists work across many areas and are accountable within their defined scope of practice to apply expertise to the work they undertake. When a matter extends beyond that scope, agrologists consult with qualified peers to ensure advice remains accurate and in the public interest.

This approach connects decisions across the full system while maintaining professional standards.

Decisions in agrology require science based information and thoughtful consideration. Data informs decisions but it does not replace professional judgment.

Agrologists are trained to interpret complex, variable conditions and apply science within real world contexts. This includes understanding limitations, assessing risk and making recommendations that are both practical and defensible.

Agrologists are accountable for that judgment. They are required to act within their scope of practice, maintain competency and prioritize the public interest in the advice they provide.
