A huge thank you to Avi Lewis for continuing to show up for postal workers and putting in the work to help get our message out!

His support is more than just words - he’s creating space for postal workers to be heard and making sure important issues reach people. From helping organize a CUPW town hall in Winnipeg to giving me the opportunity to speak and share our concerns at his Saskatoon rally, Avi has consistently used his platform to amplify the voices of postal workers and bring attention to the issues affecting our communities.

Too often, these conversations do not get the attention they deserve. Seeing someone willing to put energy into raising these issues and making sure they are heard is inspiring.

Thank you, Avi, for standing with postal workers and helping raise these issues from the rooftops! ✊✊✊

Today, members of CUPW Local 824 stood in solidarity with the workers at Dragonfly in Saskatoon who have walked off the job in protest after facing major pay cuts and ongoing concerns over working conditions.

Instead of addressing workers’ concerns fairly, the company has reportedly fired roughly half of the workforce and brought in replacement workers from other cities. That should concern every worker in the delivery and logistics sector.

What is happening here is bigger than one workplace - more and more corporations, including Canada Post, are pushing a vision for this industry built on cuts, instability, fewer rights, and unilateral decisions made without respect for the workers who keep these operations running every day. If this becomes the standard anywhere, it threatens standards everywhere.

Delivery workers, warehouse workers, postal workers, couriers, drivers, and logistics workers all face many of the same pressures - solidarity is more important than ever. Dividing workers and replacing them when they speak out cannot become the accepted model for our workplaces.

CUPW Local 824 is proud to stand with these workers in their fight for dignity, fairness, and respect on the job. We encourage others in the labour movement and the community to support them as well.

An injury to one is an injury to all. ✊

Today, on International Workers’ Day, we recognize the strength, solidarity, and sacrifices of workers past and present. Every right won in the workplace was achieved because working people stood together and demanded fairness, dignity, and respect.

We honour all workers who continue that fight today and reaffirm our commitment to protecting good jobs, strong public services, and justice for all.

The struggle continues…

In solidarity!

Frigid day for a rally in Saskatoon! A major thank you to those who braved the cold to protest consistent government intervention in our labour disputes!

I think I found out where Doug and his Slugs learned how to run Canada Post into the ground. Oh, wait Doug ran a Dairy company on the east coast and a boutique Chocolate shop for a few years. He definitely had all the qualifications needed to handle a National institution that employs 65,000+ people, from coast to coast to coast.

I only used this ad to poke a little fun. I actually think the Execs would be much smarter if they took this course.

Stop looking at our business structure and start looking at who’s making the decisions. The government implemented this moron, and are perfectly happy with his mismanagement. No reputable company that had this much loss in such a short amount of time would keep the status quo.

So ask yourself, why are they allowed to keep their jobs and we just have to just keep getting gutted? The government would rather Canada Post be private so they can spend their waste on things like pipelines which will be out of service before they’re even complete. (I’ll leave that rant fo another post)

Fire Doug Ettinger, remove the board and top executives and start collaborating with postal workers who actually know how to do this job. The post office has been a “Service” for all Canadians since our nations inception.

Why do we now need to compete with Private Companies? Is it because instead of diversifying the company over the past 25 years they decided to rest on their laurels and think they would always be the number 1 choice? They did think letter mail was magically going to make a comeback?

In a world that’s been overtaken with technology and digital excess, we should all be invested in protecting an industry that can be vital in keeping our nation connected.

Imagination has been replaced by greed and complacency.

We need leaders who exhibit more courage, to be unafraid of taking chances. To have the vision for a success beyond making money.

We’re all eventually going to the grave with nothing, having public services destroyed only gets us there quicker.

I’ll leave this here for all the people that say “Canada Post is irrelevant, nobody sends letters anymore”

Sometimes you take for granted what you have on your own doorstep. And when it goes away, you realize how precious it was.

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

Today, September 30, we pause to reflect on the truth of Canada’s residential school system and honour the survivors, their families, and the children who never made it home. This day is about listening, learning, and committing ourselves to reconciliation - not just today, but every day.

We encourage members to take the time to reflect, learn, and participate in community events that support truth and reconciliation.

There are several opportunities to show your support and stand in solidarity today, including:
• The TRC gathering at Wanuskewin
• The annual Pow Wow at SaskTel Centre

We encourage everyone to take part in these events if you are able, and to continue the work of reconciliation in your daily lives.

Beautiful day for a BBQ in the park! Today we remember the struggles and victories of working people who fought the rights and protections many of us now take for granted. Happy Labour Day 2025!
