Thank you to the city of Martensville, Craven Sport Services and KidSport for the Splash, Pedal, Run Kids Triathlon on Sunday August 31st.

We had so much fun cheering on the athletes and celebrating along with their families at the finish line! Rain didn’t stop the big smiles and laughter. We cannot wait to come back next year!

Men’s Support Network – Brotherhood of Belonging Fall 2026 Sessions.
Most men carry the weight of the world in a silence that eventually becomes too heavy to bear. We created a space in Saskatoon where that silence ends and real life begins

Every session is grounded in professional facilitation, led by real men who have been through real struggle, as well as MANY other members who have survived their own darkest chapters and come out the other side. You will engage in two hours of open, peer-led conversation where the masks come off and the real talk begins.
Our sessions go deep into the multifaceted reality of being a man today, touching on everything from the crushing weight of stress and burnout to the quiet battles with depression and anxiety. We explore the complexities of relationship dynamics and communication, the heavy responsibilities of fatherhood and parenting, and the search for identity and purpose that exists far beyond a paycheck. We provide space to navigate anger and emotional triggers, the ache of loneliness, the process of grief and life transitions, and the development of the raw emotional resilience needed to stay standing when life gets hard.

This support helps strengthen Rosewater Connection, a program dedicated to fostering connection, belonging, and emotional well-being in our community with access to professional mental health support, sharing circles, employee awareness training and facilitated group connection. Through trusted relationships and a strong sense of belonging, BGC Saskatoon creates opportunities for individuals to connect with others, grow, and access the supports they need to thrive.

Every Wednesday of this August, Junior and Senior Preschoolers at BGCS John Lake Early Learning Centre have been going on an excursion to the Thornton Park Spray Pad.

The walks to the park have been filled with conversations about the surroundings, which encourage great use of descriptive communication. The children have been very observant about the changes in the routes we have been taking (due to road closures), the new postings on the streetlamps, the weather variations within the day, and the kinds of objects and plants feature on the front yards of the houses we pass by.

Water play is such a great way to spend warm summer mornings. There are so many ways children can enjoy the experience, so it encourages them to be curious, focus on being creative, and use their imagination. The coolness and sounds of trickling water droplets are so calming and grounding. Splashing and running through the sprays burns a lot of energy and reduces stress. And children making up their own games while at the spray pad supports development of social and emotional skills, such as empathy, cooperation, and collaboration.

We are so grateful to have educators and families who also find joy in being in the moment and, literally, in the water with the children. These experiences are made possible when we make them come to life together.

We have our next TeensTalk YXE & BGC sharing circle coming up!

The Schizophrenia Society of Saskatchewan will be joining us for a presentation. The anti-stigma presentation will include a panel of four speakers the share stories of recovery from schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, anxiety, and depression. A family member of someone living with mental illness will share how they support their loved one. A health advocate will provide the facts and resources surrounding mental illness. The panel will answer audience questions at the end of the presentation.

We wanted to say thank you to Colleen and Patrick, for your many years of partnership, collaboration, and support. We are truly grateful for the relationship we have shared and wish you both all the best in your retirement and this exciting new chapter.

Colleen and Patrick are from Prairieland Park and have worked with us and our youth employment program, which helps youth develop skills for the workplace! It is not a traditional employment program. It is part of BGC Saskatoon’s broader commitment to equipping young people with the tools they need to succeed in school, work, and life. Participants engage in hands-on experiences that focus on:

Workplace readiness and professional behaviour
Communication and teamwork skills
Time management and personal responsibility

In celebration of Saskatchewan Day, the children in our John Lake ELC created their own interpretations of Saskatchewan’s beautiful landscape, featuring the breathtaking northern lights, vast prairie skies, and golden wheat fields that make our province so special.

The children learned why Saskatchewan is called the “Land of the Living Skies.” With its wide-open spaces and big, beautiful skies, there are always so many amazing things to see, from colorful sunsets and fluffy clouds to changing weather and the beautiful Northern Lights.

They also learned that Saskatchewan is known for growing lots of wheat. The children discovered that wheat is used to make many of the foods we enjoy, like bread, pasta, cereal, crackers, and cookies. Because Saskatchewan grows so much grain, it is often called the “Breadbasket of Canada.”

It was a fun day of getting creative and learning about Saskatchewan’s beautiful skies, rich farmland, and the important things it contributes to our country
