Today is Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day!

Culture is shared in many ways. Family recipes, local music, community events, and stories all help pass knowledge from one person to the next. Learning from these traditions helps us understand our communities and one another.

June is National Indigenous History Month! This is a great time for all peoples in Saskatchewan to learn more about and celebrate the histories, cultures, and contributions of Indigenous peoples. Indigenous peoples have cared for, celebrated, and protected this land for thousands of years. It is important that we know and understand.
Look for local events in your community or virtual events to attend around the province. For more information and ideas visit: http://www.otc.ca/attend_an_event.html

Today is Nature Photography Day!

Photos help us learn and share what we know. They can show wild life, plant life, and change on the land. Photos help tell the stories of the places where we live.

It is Smile Power Day! Smiling is its own language. Smiles can help us learn about people and relationships, and about what is fun in our cultures.

A smile can help people feel comfortable: this can make it easier to ask questions, share ideas, and learn!

What makes you smile? :)

Today is Star Wars Day! You might wonder what Star Wars has to do with literacy. Well, it helps us learn about different ideas, and it encourages imagination and wonder.

It’s also good to help kids learn through something that interests them (why not Star Wars?). But did you know that Star Wars can even help explain how to build good, clear messages?

Plain language and Star Wars, who knew? Plus: literacy, like the force, will be with you… always.
