Today us SafeSHIP nursing students say goodbye to the St. Luke’s staff, students and community members for the semester. We have enjoyed our time here at St. Luke’s along with the connections we’ve made with each community member. Throughout this semester we were able to spend a lot of quality time with community members through teaching lessons, doing body breaks, promoting community initiatives, and more. A new group of nursing students will be using the Safe SHIP social media accounts next semester as a part of the Safe SHIP initiative. Thank you for your support, we wish you all a great Easter and a wonderful rest of the school year.

Sincerely,
Your Safe SHIP Nursing Students.

The safeSHIP nursing students were at the parent teacher conferences last week! We had a great time meeting with some of the parents and students. We put on a booth all about screen time and the effects of too much screen time. We also had parents and students write some fun activities that they like to do that don't involve screens like playing with friends, riding bikes, and playing board games! What kinds of activities do you like to do that don't involve screens?

The Ya-Ya's hosted a bake sale at the parent teacher conference last week! They sold out almost in the first day! Their treats were delicious and they along with us safeSHIP nursing students are so grateful for the support we received. The proceeds from the bake sale will go to the Saskatoon Food Bank and Learning Centre.

This month us SafeSHIP nursing students made our bulletin board in promotion of National Nutrition Month! Food for thought explores the Canada Food Guide’s suggestions for how to build a healthy meal with portions. The bulletin shows different foods and ingredients from the three food groups that can be incorporated at mealtime to make it nutritious and healthy. What are some foods you like to see on your plate to keep it tasty and nutritious?

This month us SafeSHIP nursing students will be holding a food drive with the Saskatoon Food Bank and Learning Centre from March 18th to the 27th. The number of children, elderly, and people overall accessing the foodbank has sharply increased over the past few years so in the spirit of almsgiving this lent we ask that you donate what you can. We are looking for canned foods, pasta, rice, baby food, baby formula and other non-perishables. We have house colour coordinated donation barrels at the front entrance of the school. We appreciate any and all donations. Thank you!

This week at école St. Luke’s School we are celebrating French Week. Us SafeSHIP nurses have been trying to learn some French as well. Below are some of the story books we've been looking at and some phrases we've been practicing. Let us know what you think of these!

"Comment était l’école aujourd’hui?" = "How was school today?"
"Qu’est-ce que tu as appris aujourd’hui?" = "What did you learn today?"
"Comment est mon français?" = "How is my french"
