Saskatchewan Prevention Institute Our mandate is to help all children thrive through primary prevention and the promotion of well-being.

Raising awareness and providing education and training in
the following areas:

ALCOHOL, TOBACCO, AND OTHER DRUGS
Concentrates on the prevention of harmful effects of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs during pregnancy and on the newborn, mother and young children. Areas of focus include the prevention of fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD) and the harmful effects of tobacco. CHILD INJURY PREVENT

ION
Focuses on the prevention of childhood injuries especially in the areas of child passenger safety, bicycle safety, brain injury, and other areas of risk. EARLY CHILDHOOD MENTAL HEALTH
Promotes good infant and early childhood mental health by focusing on the impact of early relationships, experiences and environments on child development and behaviour. Areas of focus include; brain development, attachment, stress and trauma, witnessing domestic violence, parental mental health and resilience. MATERNAL AND INFANT HEALTH
Seeks to ensure the healthiest outcomes for a woman and her baby, by focusing on health during preconception, pregnancy and infancy. PARENTING EDUCATION
Supports parents in raising healthy, safe and happy children by promoting positive parenting. This is done by coordinating and administering the Nobody’s Perfect Parenting Program, hosting Healthy Parenting Home Study and by providing parenting information for all parents. REPRODUCTIVE AND SEXUAL HEALTH
Focuses on improving sexual and reproductive health prior to and during pregnancy, with the goal of improving the health of the fetus and newborn. Areas of focus include HIV and pregnancy, Sexually Transmitted Infections and preconception health.
