Meet Your Paramedics

We’re kicking off this series with Geoff Anthony. Today marks his final day on the ambulance after an incredible 45-year career serving the people of Saskatoon. Join us as we celebrate Geoff’s remarkable dedication, countless contributions, and the legacy he leaves behind:

“My name is Geoff Anthony. I started my EMS journey with MD Ambulance in July 1981. I was 20 years old when I was hired. Being an EMT/Paramedic is all I know. EMS is/will be a part of me for life.

EMS can be - and is - a very rewarding life, but it can also be difficult, both physically and mentally. A support system is very important.

On July 3rd my EMS career will come to an end.
I will be 65 in July, and it is, in my mind anyway, a younger Paramedics game. It’s time to retire.

I truly meant what I said in a final email to staff - when you get in an Ambulance and leave the building there’s nothing like being a Paramedic.

I will miss that.

It takes special people to do what we do. This “team” in Saskatoon will always be in my thoughts and in my heart.

It’s truly been the honour of my life to serve the people of my home city along with this team for 45 years.”

Thank you, Geoff, for 45 years of service. Your dedication, compassion, and impact on our service have left a lasting mark, and you will be greatly missed by your colleagues and friends. Wishing you all the best in retirement!

Negotiations for a new collective agreement remain ongoing. Our Saskatoon Paramedics and Emergency Medical Dispatchers remain committed to securing a fair contract that recognizes the vital work our members do every day.

We are grateful for the patience, understanding, and continued support shown by our community throughout this process. Your encouragement means a great deal to us.

Healthcare workers and first responders deserve to feel safe while serving our communities. Thank you for your advocacy and continued work supporting those on the front lines across Canada.

And thank you for supporting the swift passage of Bill S-233.

Sometimes the smallest rescues leave the biggest impact. 🐾

Shoutout to some of our Saskatoon Paramedics who assisted the Saskatoon Fire Department during a recent structure fire, helping safely rescue kittens from the building.

From working alongside our emergency service partners to caring for even the smallest lives, moments like these reflect the compassion and teamwork our crews bring to every call.
