Kids of Note / The Notations

Kids of Note / The Notations Kids of Note is an all abilities choir for children, youth, and young adults who love to sing in Saskatoon, Canada. South). Fees are also available there.

Kids of Note is a non-auditioned, integrated choir for children and youth of all abilities, who love to sing. Our music is uplifting, fun and often challenging. Now into our 16th season, we typically have 25 members, ages 7 and up. Children's entertainer Brenda Baker is our Founding Director and Kim Salkeld is our pianist. The Notations is an ensemble of youth and young adult singers, some of whom

are “graduates” of Kids of Note. In 2015 we welcomed Jean Currie as our director. Together with pianist Sheldon Corbett, Jean strives to provide a unique performing and social experience where a mix of young adults with a range of gifts and abilities have fun making music together. The ensemble shares concerts with Kids of Note, but the choristers perform their own songs and sometimes provide harmonies for songs by Kids of Note. In order to meet The Notations’ goal of full integration, we would especially welcome “typical” singers who support our vision of a Saskatoon where people of all abilities share important life experiences – like singing – in an integrated community setting. Every year our two groups perform a Christmas and a Spring concert to a full house at Grosvenor Park United Church (407 Cumberland Ave. The church generously provides a home for us, along with other supports, as a service to Saskatoon. Our choristers also do their best to provide two community Outreach Events annually in other venues, sometime between March and May. To prepare for our two public concerts and outreach events, Kids of Note and Notations members MUST be available for the rehearsals and concerts listed on our website Welcome page: KidsofNote.com

Practising at home is a necessity with the aid of CDs provided by the program. Visit KidsofNote.com and check out the Kids of Note How We Work page or The Notations How We Work page to see if our groups are a good fit for you or your potential chorister. Kids of Note sometimes has limited space, so please message Brenda Baker through this page SOON to register or to have your child’s name added to the waiting list, or email [email protected].

We just want to thank all the kind folks who submitted the names of songs for Kids of Note's upcoming concert about "growing up and growing older." We posted this request in three places, and now we have so many suggestions we could put on four or five different concerts, all on the same theme! Thank you so much! And come to our show on April 26 at 2:30 - Grosvenor Park United Church!

We're looking for help to find songs for Kids of Note's Spring concert. Our theme is "growing up and growing old" - what songs can you think of? Some examples:
The Circle Game by Joni Mitchell
I Won't Grow Up from Peter Pan
Old Man by Neil Young
When I'm 64 by The Beatles
Forever Young by Rod Stewart
Please post your ideas in the comments. Thanks!
