In Chincha Alta, Peru, the construction of homes for families living in extreme poverty has resumed π π
Families have been living in small makeshift shacks with no running water, electricity, or proper shelter.
Inside the latest Oblate Spirit, we learn that 11 families are currently waiting for proper housing, among them is an 86 year old woman who shared that she had prayed for many years to one day live under a proper roof.
During his ministry, Br. Blaise MacQuarrie, OMI sat with her and told her that her name was finally on the list to receive a newly built home. In that moment of Mission, she broke down in tears of joy.
Sometimes mission is found in moments just like this listening, responding, and helping restore dignity and hope to those who have waited a very long time π
Through the work of Br. Blaise MacQuarrie, OMI and local work crews, families are not only receiving shelter, but also dignity, hope, and support as they help build their future together π€
The Oblate Mission is often found in these very real moments, of listening to people, responding to needs, and helping create spaces where families can live safely and with hope.
