Every new day holds opportunities to live with purpose.

When we remember the spirit of St. Eugene de Mazonod we remember that in the small tasks that fill our time, we can bring space for care, intention, and kindness.

Living with purpose is not separate from daily life. Purpose filled mission is lived through how we respond, how we serve, and how we remain present to others.

We begin this week ready to notice those opportunities and respond with generosity πŸ’™πŸ™

Sometimes the mission journey begins with one simple encounter.

In the latest Oblate Spirit, Karen and David Sax share how meeting Fr. Glenn Zimmer, OMI, years ago slowly led them deeper into the Oblate charism, MAMI, and eventually even to Peru to visit Br. Blaise MacQuarrie, OMI πŸ‡΅πŸ‡ͺπŸ’™

Their story is one of relationship, faith, hospitality, and the ways mission can quietly shape a life over time.

In Chincha Alta, Peru, the construction of homes for families living in extreme poverty has resumed πŸ πŸ’™

Families have been living in small makeshift shacks with no running water, electricity, or proper shelter.

Inside the latest Oblate Spirit, we learn that 11 families are currently waiting for proper housing, among them is an 86 year old woman who shared that she had prayed for many years to one day live under a proper roof.

During his ministry, Br. Blaise MacQuarrie, OMI sat with her and told her that her name was finally on the list to receive a newly built home. In that moment of Mission, she broke down in tears of joy.

Sometimes mission is found in moments just like this listening, responding, and helping restore dignity and hope to those who have waited a very long time πŸ™

Through the work of Br. Blaise MacQuarrie, OMI and local work crews, families are not only receiving shelter, but also dignity, hope, and support as they help build their future together 🀝

The Oblate Mission is often found in these very real moments, of listening to people, responding to needs, and helping create spaces where families can live safely and with hope.

St. Eugene De Mazonod reminds us that good work is not always a clear path.

Sometimes are need to be willing to begin to take the steps to do the hard tasks in our life. Those are the moments we can lean on God. Those moments where you are willing to show up, to take the next step, to do what is in front of you with intention and acting within God's strength.

There is strength in simple faithfulness where one chooses to act with purpose in those daily moments.

This week begins with that quiet commitment to keep doing good where we are πŸ’™πŸ™

We have been quiet on Facebook and busy behind the scenes this month.

Last night, alongside The Star of the North, we celebrated the "Starlight Gala". This evening was dedicated to supporting fundraising efforts for both of the North Retreat Centre and the newly designed Whispering Oasis in Kisaju Kenya.

Lacombe Canada MAMI is excited to support spaces rooted in rest, healing , reflection. And community here in Canada and beyond.

In the spirit of St. Eugene de Mazenod:

A new week is a new opportunity to do good where we are.

Mission does not always ask for something big. It often begins with simple choices showing up, staying attentive, and doing what is in front of us with care.

There is something steady about beginning again. It reminds us that each day holds the possibility to serve, to support, and to make a difference in small but real ways.

We move into this week with purpose, presence, and a willingness to do what we can, where we are πŸ’™πŸ™

Before any outreach happens in mission, there is preparation that often goes unseen.

Vehicles are checked πŸš—
Supplies are gathered 🍞
Routes are planned πŸ—ΊοΈ
And communities are contacted so needs can be met safely and well.

This practical work is part of mission itself. It ensures that when people are reached, support arrives in a way that is thoughtful and coordinated.

Faith is present even here , in the planning, the responsibility, and the care taken to serve well πŸ’™πŸ™

The Oblate mission day often begins early and unfolds in unexpected ways.

Plans are made, then adjusted. Visits are prepared, then reshaped by need. Some moments are scheduled, others happen simply because someone arrives needing help. πŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈ

There is movement between places, between people, and between responsibilities that are both practical and pastoralβ›ͺ

Along the way, there is time for conversation, small tasks, and simple presence in the community.

Mission is lived in these ordinary rhythms of life that are steady, flexible, and always connected to the people it serves πŸ’™πŸ™

A beautiful moment from the Deaf community πŸ€ŸπŸ’™

In this video, members of the community are teaching each other how to knit 🧢

It is a simple activity, but it carries something deeper: learning together, sharing skills, and creating space for connection and creativity.

In mission life, these moments remind us that communication is not only spoken. It is also shared through presence, patience, and mutual support.

There is dignity in learning from one another, and joy in building something together as a community 🌿

Small moments like these reflect the strength found in togetherness. πŸ’™πŸ™
