September 30 | National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
Today, we remember the children who never returned home, the Survivors who continue to carry the impacts of residential schools, and the families and communities whose lives were forever changed by colonial violence.
Every child matters.
Truth and Reconciliation Day is not a holiday or only a day to remember. It is a day to confront the colonial reality that continues to shape Canada, to listen to Indigenous peoples and Survivors, and to reflect on our own responsibilities within that reality.
May we never allow the truth of what happened to be forgotten, reduced to history, or separated from the systems and structures that continue to affect Indigenous peoples today.
Remember the children. Honour the Survivors. Listen to Indigenous voices. Commit to reconciliation through action.
