Each year, members from across the country submit their embroideries to be showcased in the Seminar’s Members’ Exhibition. These works may also be entered into a variety of award categories, including the 𝗦𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗲 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱. The 2026 Seminar was held in Richmond, BC, under the theme 𝘗𝘢𝘤𝘪𝘧𝘪𝘤 𝘋𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮𝘴.

For this Friday’s Members' Gallery Feature, we are delighted to highlight the 1st PLACE WINNER of the 2026 𝗦𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗲 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱:

🏆🎉𝗗𝗲𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗵 𝗭𝗶𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗸 of the 𝘝𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘎𝘶𝘪𝘭𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘌𝘮𝘣𝘳𝘰𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘳𝘴 with 𝘽𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙝 𝙎𝙪𝙣𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙚🥇👏

Congratulations Deborah! A well deserved reward!

Here is what she said of her piece:
𝘽𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙝 𝙎𝙪𝙣𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙚 was developed as a reflection of the open spectacular, sunrise and sunset scenes available to all living or visiting the Pacific Coastal region. This piece was developed from an original photograph of a beach scene to showcase the mountains, water and vegetation along with whatever else may wash up onto the beach from elsewhere. From a sketch, the main elements were drawn in pencil onto a ground fabric of linen and then various weights and colours of silk, cotton and metallic threads were used to stitch the major elements to capture the quiet wonder of a beach sunrise and an ancient log from a forest elsewhere.”
